And, if you knew anything about history, you would understand that the Democrats were the conservatives during the 19th C and the new Republican Party was the party to which the Abolitionists and the Suffragettes, the progressives (left-leaning people) of that era flocked. The positions of the two parties began to change not long after the war.
And, yes, early in the 20th C, when the two major parties had liberal and conservative wings, the conservative wings of both parties were opposed to integration, as were most whites because the Abolitionist movement did not extend beyond the Civil War.
