@spendius,
Of course-- I will give you some Spendiusl. Please rest assured that I am highly familiar with Chicago and its politics and who runs the city and its instutions.

l. Obama was viewed as a comer among Democratic power holders, especially Mayor Daley, who runs and influences everything political directly or indirectly.

2. Daley has kept his political balance in a city that is largely Black and Hispanic by co-opting the Black Power Structure. Most of the black preachers in the city( who are effective proslytizers for the mayor) have been given a great many "goodies" over the years. One of them was Barack Hussein Obama.

3. The University of Chicago, especially in its Sociology and History Departments has always been on the far far left.

It's a shame, Spendius, that some one like Cyclops continues to make statements without a bit of evidence behind them. I can,. of course, give evidence and documentation for every bit of my post.

Sat 3 Apr, 2010 09:27 am Most people here are aware that I monitor the Rasmussen poll closely, almost everyday, because I believe it to a good measure of the mood in the country in regard to politics, the economy and all kinds of things, in particular about how Obama is governing. I have noticed since the health care bill being rammed through, Obama's numbers seem to have leveled out or improved slightly and if I agree with cyclops on anything at all, I would agree with him that perhaps the numbers reflect a resurgence of confidence in Obama among his supporters or liberals when he persists in ramming his socialist agenda, because that is what his supporters voted for him to do and wanted him to do, while the opposition remains adamantly opposed in about the same numbers, because whether he is successful with his socialist agenda or not, conservatives simply do not trust him and will never support his agenda whether he is successful in enacting it or not. So, when Obama's strongly approve / strongly oppose index was the lowest, it reflected a sagging in his supporter base as much or more than it did the strength.

As usual, Okie, you are right on target, but I must point out that the site-Real Clear Politics also gives data from a collection of polls. At this time, Obama's job approval rating, according to a compendium of polls. His Job Approval rating continues to fall. According to Real Clear Politics, he has 47.5 Job Approval and 46.1 Disapproval. This has plummeted from exactly one year ago. Then it was 58% Approval and 41% Disapproval.

*************************************************************************

But that is not all, Okie, the LATEST data from CBS( not Limbaugh or Hannity)-but CBS shows the following--

THE CBS POLL SHOWS THE FOLLOWING, OKIE!

CBS Poll: Obama's Approval Falls Since Health Care Bill Passage
Eric Kleefeld | April 2, 2010

The new CBS poll has President Obama's approval rating reaching a record low, with only 44% approving of his performance, and 41% disapproving.

The 44% approval number is down from 49% two weeks ago, a five-point decline since the health care bill passed, and disapproval is unchanged. Other polls have shown Obama enjoying at least a temporary bounce immediately after the bill was signed, but this poll at least suggests a decrease in the span of two weeks.

Also from the poll: "When it comes to health care, the President's approval rating is even lower -- and is also a new all-time low. Only 34 percent approved, while 55 percent disapproved.

@spendius,
But, Spendius, during the campaign he said over and over that he would be the President of all the people and would listen to their concerns. A glance at the DISAPPROVAL of the Health Care Bill shows that he is not concerned with the feelings of the majority of the American people

@MASSAGAT,
I imagine that is due to the bill being a meaningless fudge. I'm in favour of a US National Health Service. I don't like the idea that my admiration for America is based on it not having the millstone of an NHS like we have.

Again, it is getting to be a habit with him< Cyclops reveals that he knows almost nothing about American politics.

Note:

Bob Woodward( certainly not a right winger--but he might be judged as one in the goofy climate of Berkeley) told the world, in his book that Polls are not only important but to chief executives like Bill Clinton,they were absolutely vital.

quote from P. 336 of "Shadow" by Bob Woodward.

"At one point, Clinton said that as a practical matter the country didn't have elections any more. What they had were photographs of PUBLIC OPINION POLLS, a kind of over the counter market quotation of the polls in an ongoing partisan war that would last all four years. But the numbers in those polls were THE MOST IMPORTANT NUMBERS IN THE WORLD FOR CLINTON"

*********************************************************************

Of course, Cyclops is unaware of this!

@spendius,
I am sorry, Spendius, I don't quite understand what you are saying. Are you saying that the NHS in England is a "millstone"? If so, I would be very interested in finding out why you think so. Or have I misinterpreted your meaning?

Even if there were 1 outlying day - which I don't believe there was - Rasmussen consistently polls Obama's approval rating lower then any other poll, and they consistently favor Republican issues in their opinion polls. This is because Scott Rasmussen is a Republican dude and this is the entire purpose of his organization.

*************************************************************************
What Cyclops appears to be saying is that Rasmussen is corrupt and in the pockets of the RNC. I would like to have him prove that. I am sure he cannot. I can, however, show that Rasmussen Polls are very very close to accurate. But then Cyclops doesn't understand elementary math so he would be unable to evaluate my claim. But for the rest of you_quote-
(From Rasmussen the week before the election of 2008!
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll has shown Obama with support from 50% to 52% of voters every single day for 39 consecutive days.

Okie- Parados and Cyclops know almost nothing about Fascism and the Nazi Regime. I recall that they held the opinion that Fascism and the Nazis had no SOCIALISTIC planks in their platform. In reality, their platforms were loaded with SOCIALISM.

They are both grossly misinformed!

Going back to the last presidential election, Rasmussen was the most accurate poll out of 23 organizations listed below, while CBS/Times and Newsweek, probably more the type of organizations of your liking, cyclops, were at the very bottom of the heap:
