@maporsche,
What you'll hear in Nevada is:

" In March 2010, Harry Reid voted to allow rapists and child molesters access to Viagra paid for with your Christian tax dollars. Is this the kind of man that represents your values or the state of Nevada. Vote for [Republican Candidate] on November 2, and let's get this morally bankrupt man out of office. This ad paid for by [Republican Candidate]. "

Again, it's clever and probably a wise political move. Nobody is going to remember WHY Harry Reid had to vote for this bill; the general populace really doesn't understand the intricacies of our political system. That's a strong sound bite that will grab peoples attention, especially those who really don't pay too much attention anyway.

I read a list of the amendments a couple of days ago. Some, I thought, had merit. All will get rejected.

Oh, I dunno. I've seen such political attack ads my entire life and am kind of inured to them at this point - and I bet that others are as well.

@Irishk,
Yes they will. And I agree many of them have merit and I hope they're added in before 2014. But for political reason now, the Democrats have to vote 'No'.

I wouldn't be surprise if those same amendments are voted on separately before November, that way Harry Reid can say that he DID vote against Viagra for sexual offenders.

Well, you can thank your own party for that. The Dems would be happy to make productive improvements to the bill, but your side uses every excuse possible to try and gum up the works, delay, and kill the thing.

This whole pretense that the Dems are gumming up the works is a silly joke, Irish. Cmon. You know exactly what is going on right now.

@djjd62,
LOL.....tell me that you don't think that kind of ad would resonate with most voters. These are people who are convinced by TV advertisement to eat McDonalds everyday.

The amendment requiring members of Congress to get their insurance in the same pool as us unwashed masses failed 59-40.
The next amendment is, I think, something having to do with people with physical handicaps. I may be wrong.

The amendment regarding Viagra ends up limply with 42 in favor vs 57 against.
Next up, one that would allow states to opt out under the 10th amendment to the Constitution.

The last amendment, which involved small business tax credits, went down 41-58. That is in the same range as the Dems have been achieving all afternoon and evening.
The one being voted on right now is the government's "Soviet style" takeover of the student loan program that may cost the private sector some 30K jobs. Introduced by the Senator of South Dakota.

I wonder how much longer this will go on. No longer for me. Bedtime.
My understanding was that, in addition to offering numerous amendments, the Republicans would challenge the procedure under which the process was being held. That hasn't happened yet. Anyone know anything about that?

@Irishk,
Irishk- I don't know if anyone really believes the nonsense about child molesters getting access to Viagra. However, Senator Reid is in real trouble. Current Polls( See "Real Clear Politics" for details) show that Senator Reid is trailing both Repu blican challengers by 13 percent. Political experts agree that any incumbent who does not poll over 50% is in real trouble.

@MASSAGAT,
I hope that it sinks in with the public how vicious and unpatriotic the Republicans are. The latest thing is that the Reps are holding up everything in congress until the Nov. elections, notwithstanding how this damages the country.

@Advocate,
The Republicans are finally being strong willed and patriotic by attempting to hold up everything in the Democrat Congress until the November elections. The changes made so far by the Democrat Congress are very damaging to our country. We want as little additional Democrat Congress damage to our country between now and the November elections as possible.
