@cicerone imposter,

Members of the committee that will vote "no" on Sotomayor understand that Sonia Sotomayor Doesn't Care About White People.

From my article above:
Code:"I believe our legal system is at a dangerous crossroads," said Senator Jeff Sessions, the top ranking Republican on the committee.

Nothing but fear-mongering without any basis in fact or reality. She cannot make any decision on the supreme court by herself; one judge does not rule on laws being made by the supreme court; it takes a majority.

@H2O MAN,
She doesn't care about white people? That must be why she is sitting answering the questions of a bunch of white people.

You don't think much before you post, do you squirt?

@parados,
And most, if not all, of the committee members are white. Funny how that works!

Maybe all the white members are masochists, and will select the worst candidate possible for supreme court judge. They all must hate America and its institutions!

@cicerone imposter,
I believe the only African American Senator is Burris. I don't believe there are any Latinos.

Is Inouya of HI still in the Senate?

Why should it matter how many of the committee members are white?

@H2O MAN,
It matters if you want to claim she doesn't care about white people.

Do you sit around for hours answering questions when you don't care about the people asking those questions?

How many "No" votes and how many "Yes" votes? You don't even know how many Repubs are on the sub-committee, do you? Or who they are?

@realjohnboy,
The truth and nothing but the truth about Sotomayor:
Quote:
Based on this exhaustive review, the conclusion is unmistakable: in constitutional cases, Judge Sotomayor is solidly in the mainstream of the Second Circuit. After we analyzed every constitutional case in the Second Circuit over the past decade, what was striking was the degree of unanimity and consensus on a court roughly evenly split between Democratic appointees and Republican appointees.

*

Even given the often-noted collegiality of the Second Circuit, Judge Sotomayor has been in agreement with her colleagues more often than most - 94% of her constitutional decisions have been unanimous.

*

She has voted with the majority in 98.2% of constitutional cases.

*

When she has voted to hold a challenged governmental action unconstitutional, her decisions have been unanimous over 90% of the time.

*

Republican appointees have agreed with her decision to hold a challenged governmental action unconstitutional in nearly 90% of cases.

*

When she has voted to overrule a lower court or agency, her decisions have been unanimous over 93% of the time.

*

Republican appointees have agreed with her decision to overrule a lower court decision in over 94% of cases.

*

She overruled lower court and agency decisions at a rate that closely conforms to the circuit overall average.

Our analysis shows that - far from casting her as an "outlier" - Judge Sotomayor's record is remarkably consistent with that of her colleagues. The analysis also refutes charges made since the day of her nomination that Judge Sotomayor is a "judicial activist." Any honest reading of the facts make it abundantly clear that Judge Sotomayor is a mainstream jurist.

How many white people voted against Justice Thomas? Did you oppose him? If so, I am sure it was bigotry, right?

@okie,
okie, FYI, we're not talking about Thomas; the subject under discussion is Sotomayor. Your 360 degree diversions are childish and uncalled for. Stick with the program.

FYI, there's nothing that can be done with judge Thomas; he's already been confirmed.

@cicerone imposter,
Answer the question, how many white people voted against Thomas? Did you oppose him? Answer it. The answer directly relates to the program here.

Also, how many Democrats voted against Thomas? How many white Democrats voted against him?

Today's hearing was taken up with opening statements from the 19 members plus Judge Sotomayor. A lot of posturing; very little substance. Tomorrow could be more probing, but nothing of great consequence. Her nomination will go to the full Senate.
7 Repubs:
Tom Coburn (OK) - could be yes or no. Any ideas, Okie?
John Cornyn (TX) - yes
Lindsay Graham (SC) - yes
Jon Kyl (AZ) - yes
Chuck Grassley (IA) - yes
Orin Hatch (UT) - yes
Jeff Sessions (AL) - could go yes or not, but I am betting yes.

@realjohnboy,
Don't know on Coburn. I predict confirmation, but all I am trying to point out is the obvious hypocrisy on the part of Democrats playing the race card. Sotomayor herself has played it in the past. Frankly, I am very tired of it, as is most of us I believe. Can't people stand up and say enough is enough already? I am tired of people being classified every which way. Why not tell the Census Bureau to cease and desist in this swamp of racial and sexual classifications. Is that the way all Democrats look at people, what color are you, etc. etc.?

By the way, I thumbs down dyslexia. He probably opposed Thomas, I am only guessing, and if so I am sure it was because he was black, right dys?
