@Walter Hinteler,
okie, You need to live in this contemporary times; the world has changed dramatically since WWII. You probably missed the whole half a century that's expired since back then.

Most developed countries do not have the military wherewithal of yesteryear except us backward US. Costa Rica is one of the smartest countries; they provide universal health care and no military.

In today's world, the world community is responsible to control and defend against terrorists. The US is not the world's policeman, nor should we take on that role. We represent only five percent of the world's population; that simply means it's logistically impossible for us to go it alone.

Diplomacy makes the best sense in today's world. Something you'll never learn.

Yes, it all started after WWII (see "Pocket Guide to Germany", 1944)

It started before WWII, Walter. Notable politicians were tripping over themselves to fraternize with the great Adolf Hitler.

Human nature does not change. It remains basically the same. ci is free to think otherwise, but I do not.

@okie,
okie, The problem you suffer from is your fixed mind. You think everything you believe is what really happened, and use global terms that really applies to some and not all.

Learn to open up your mind; there are many good people here that provides good information. You must get over your fixation with what you have learned in the past; time changes things dramatically whether its about politics or economics.

Funny you should mention that, Okie.

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

Rumours of a link between the US first family and the Nazi war machine have circulated for decades. Now the Guardian can reveal how repercussions of events that culminated in action under the Trading with the Enemy Act are still being felt by today's president

@JTT,
But since Bush isnt the President now, and since it was his grandfather that worked with the Nazi financiers, how is that relevant now?

Unless you believe that the sins of the father can be visited on the son.
And if you do believe that, then the dems have a lot of criminals in their midst.

You might have missed okie's response to my post, mm, but he was the first to mention the NAZI<>US fraternisation.

Last I checked the history books, the U.S. was quite helpful in defeating Hitler, at no small cost by the way. And I believe Bush I participated in that war, which defeated the Nazis and Hitler. Perhaps you read different history books?

If you want to claim we and the world let Hitler go too long, I would agree, and that was my original point, that fraternizing and giving credibility to world dictators and thugs is not a particularly great policy. That is my complaint with Obama. He seems to lack the ability to condemn evil in the world, when he sees it, or perhaps he doesn't see it?

That is - with due respect - a cant. Even if a famous 18th century Irish conservative said it first.

Do you admire British colononialism and the British Empire as Burke did, okie? Wink

The US was also quite helpful in stopping Hitler from using nukes.

@okie,
Question

Could you kindly give me clue where I negated that? Or where I claimed that 'you' and the world let Hitler go to long?

I only referred to the US "Pocket Guide To Germany" from 1944, delivered to the US-forces.

I am glad we won our independence here, Walter. What else do you need to know?

But we might have saved ourselves the trouble, seeing we now tax ourselves into oblivion as the king was doing. We now have our own guys that think they are kings.

The suspense is killing me. What does the Pocket Guide To Germany from 1944 say about fraternizing?

@cicerone imposter,
I am trying to figure out what Walter is all energized by, such as the Pocket Guide to Germany in 1944, such as "what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?" He injected that pretty much out of the blue, so I need to know why the pocket guide even applies to the discussion, before I can answer any of his questions. The pocket guide comment is where the train left the tracks.
