In case you don't realize it, America is not allied to Israel for religious reasons, nor for racial reasons.

Israel is a strategic military ally and one of the few stable democracies in the entire region.

You know; I really don't get this at all. Just how is Israel so an important an ally? What has Israel done for us other than calling itself a democracy and not being an Arabic state in the middle east? When you get right down to it; we would have less problems with the rest of the middle east if Israel was not created. (that is not saying it shouldn't exist; just stating a fact) The whole reason Israel exist is for religious and racial reasons.

In any event; if you have ever read Obama's stance on Israel verses Wright; they couldn't be more different. Proving that just because you go to church don't mean you believe everything your preacher says politically. Lord knows I sure don't.

On Israel

Quote:
Ensure a Strong U.S.-Israel Partnership: Barack Obama strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship, believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America's strongest ally in the Middle East. Obama supports this closeness, stating that that the United States would never distance itself from Israel.

Support Israel's Right to Self Defense: During the July 2006 Lebanon war, Barack Obama stood up strongly for Israel's right to defend itself from Hezbollah raids and rocket attacks, cosponsoring a Senate resolution against Iran and Syria's involvement in the war, and insisting that Israel should not be pressured into a ceasefire that did not deal with the threat of Hezbollah missiles. He believes strongly in Israel's right to protect its citizens.

Support Foreign Assistance to Israel: Barack Obama has consistently supported foreign assistance to Israel. He defends and supports the annual foreign aid package that involves both military and economic assistance to Israel and has advocated increased foreign aid budgets to ensure that these funding priorities are met. He has called for continuing U.S. cooperation with Israel in the development of missile defense systems.

ooooooooooo, bone chilling

Just the way you said that, I could feel the dark shadow pass over me.

Who are the 'evil Zionists' that you are afraid of , Deist?

What are their specific goals and why are those goals unacceptable?

And please document that this is the case.

When what doesn't happen? $10 gas? I sure as hell hope not. But the fact that Moveon (Obama supporters) would WANT such a thing is pretty telling. I think you're a smart guy Diest, but you've got your horse hooked to the wrong wagon.

First of all, neither of these will happen. The fact that you think that they could illustrates your ignorance.

I can tell you numerous reasons why I'd object, but you haven't even began to tell me what specific positions your imagination has them in. Don't bother telling me now, I'll go ahead and tell you the two reasons I'd object.

1) There's somebody better for the job. E.g. - What position would a Reverend fit into? There are so many people in line to fill these spots.
2) Even if they did a good job, they'd be constantly under fire by the media and the republicans. It would be a struggle to get anything done.

I'll say it again, you're just trying to meme Obama out of the White House. Your catch-phrase-fear-mongering-memes are a laughable waste of time.

But you're just following suit. Even McCain had tire gauges made labeled "Obama's Energy Plan." The next day, he said that we should put a littl more air in our tires.

You're losing the fight, and you're not ding it with any grace.

I suspect the contradictions increasingly becomng evident between Obama's rhetoric on tax and energy policies and the common sense popular understanding of the real economic interests of the country Hard to tell if these will become decisive, but he does appear increasingly vulnerable on these issues and they may become a real problem for him.

Funny, he's still beating McCain in both of those areas; what does that say about McCain's disconnection with the American people? Wouldn't you say McCain's 20-point deficit on the question of 'who will manage the economy better?' is a real problem for him?

I think you've got that tire story a bit confused there Diest.

Obama got it wrong. Again.

Experts say properly inflated tires will increase your gas mileage 3 to 4%. Of course this is assuming everyone is going around with very low air pressure in their tires.

It will not reduce our oil consumption by 3 to 4%. There are no "experts" stating this.

Big difference Obama.

Well the polls are what they are and the election will be what it will be. I agree that Obama is still the likely winner, and that, in an odd way, it sometimes seems (to me at least) that McCain may not really want to win. However, the vulnerabilities of Obama and the Democrats on energy and economic issues seems to be increasing.

Why? You aren't an American - I see this sentiment here all the time from those who can't vote. What is in the water on the other side of the pond anyway?

What?

I'm a U.S. citizen. I'm from Missouri. I work for a government contractor. I don't know where the visa thing came from...

I very much can vote and I am. I'll be another blue vote in VA, a state that is shedding it's rouge these days.
