If that's Obama slipping and McCain gaining, democrats have no worry; republicans don't know how to read graphs or numbers.

Buttrflynet, Good op-ed piece; it tells it like it is in the "real" world. McCain's gaffs are endless, and will continue until November. Desperation is all he has left.

Yeah, it's head-to-head and Obama is slipping while McCain gains strength.

O'Bill, What gets to me about those poll charts is that the tv media people are saying that McCain is catching up with Obama. How in the hell do they come to that conclusion? It looks like McCain is slipping away to goner status - slowly, but surely.
I don't know, but can only assume, this reflects the simple truth that a closer race is a better story and therefore increases ratings. Look how long after Hillary was toast they pretended she wasn't. IMO, they are simply increasing their market share by catering to the ignorant... who refuse to take 30 seconds to fact check before making fools of themselves. (shrugs)

INTRADE.COM is still offering 2 to 1 if the morons want to put their money where their mouths are. I'd wager they don't.

So people who believe McCain will win are morons now? I guess that's par for the course since people who don't believe Obama will win are clearly racists.
How careless of you Finn; I said no such thing. The Morons I was referencing were the very same I was rebutting with the poll charts in the first place. Believing that McCain will win is reasonable enough. Pretending that current polling indicates it's likelihood is pure idiocy. Do you still wish to disagree?

Perhaps they have been reading articles like this

link

Admittedly this article and the polls it references are not indications that McCain will win, but the desire to interpret this info in move favorable light is hardly idiocy.

The notion that anyone is winning is a bit absurd. Neither candidate is collecting votes at the moment. Being ahead in polls is not winning.. Seeing your candidate ahead in current polls is, of course, gratifying, and I would prefer to see McCain in the lead, but there is still a lot of time left. I prefer to place my bets much closer to the actual race.

What is that supposed to mean?

If "my mouth" hasn't announced McCain will win, why would I want to bet my money that he will?

Insomuch as your protest seems valid; I can't help but wonder who it's against. You've been quoting me... but I haven't stated anyone was winning anymore than I accused anyone of being a moron simply for believing McCain will win. It's rather unlike you to show up packing so much straw.

I'm inclined to think that Mr McCain can take being behind in the polls in his stride after what he has been through in the service of the Nation.

What have you been through in that regard teeny?

I would bet you would go WAA! WAA! if your Mum forget your birfday.

Finally, the USA will remain the world's only hyper-power and will look to its own interests first. Obama will reach an accommodation with conservatives, the military, the multi-nationals, in short, with everybody the average liberal sees as the axis of evil. That sounds realistic, but why is this realism so damned hard to distinguish from plain old grumpiness? Sure, it's possible Obama will disappoint us in exactly the same way Tony Blair awakened hopes and was unable to deliver. But why this insistence on disappointment that almost looks like a lust for suffering?

Yeah, we've been screwed for 7.5 years. and you're just noticing. I guess your gas and food costs aren't going up in your area, and nobody has lost their jobs and/or homes.

In this area?
Gas prices have dropped 25 cents in the last two days, there are 2 new factories moving in with a total of 845 nes jobs, houses are being sold at a fairly good clip, and there havent been many foreclosures at all.

But then again, I live in Kentucky and not on the east or west coasts.

Your anecdotal observation doesn't at all affect what has happened to the economy over that 7.5 years overall. And you know that,, and you choose (as usual) to take a stance that indirectly defends the indefensible record of Bush. And (agai, as usual) you will probably deny defending him and his loathsome policies, saying "you were just talking about...(Kentucky in this case)"

The point was that we have been screwed economically as a nation and all the numbers would show that. It's like talking to a fugging wall.

I have never denied that parts of the country are being hard hit, my point was to show that not all the country is being hard hit.
But since you think that your little corner represents the whole country, you go right ahead and wallow in your self pity.
I have more important things to do.

I think we are beginning to pay the price of obstructionist policies, a failing educational system, and an adversarial relationship with business. We did not become the world's leading economic power by limiting energy production here at home, just one example.

In the area of energy, Bush's proposals have been shot down by Congress. Congress's approval ratings are lower than Bush's.

The people will wake up one day, perhaps some are right now, that it is not all that intelligent to bite the hand that feeds you.

A good start would be to get rid of Reid and Pelosi.

First, learn how to spell!

Military Wife for 22 years! Husband is a Viet Nam Vet, Gulf War 1 and 2 veteran, father was a Buffalo Soldier, WWII, Grandfather was a WWI Veteran, 4 Uncles served in WWII and Korean War. Son, served a year in Korea, 501st MI Group and he volunteered! Personally, the Black Men in my family served a country that spouted democracy, but not for them!

My father helped capture 37,000 Nazis in Italy, yet he had to ride in a train car BEHIND these bastards! Me? I've suffer the indignity of being born Black in America. It didn't make me special, except when I sat on the bus, streetcars or tried to drink from a "for whites only", water fountain and so forth.

I guess you can say I survived the war against Black Americans in a white country, stolen from the Indians. I'm not a "boomer", because I was born during the war and still survived racism, is what! Any other stupid questions?
