Conspiracy Theory: Rove Cooked Up Port Controversy

The idea is that the port deal was orchestrated to prop up Congressional Republicans to distance themselves from one of the most inept administration in our history. The logic is that Bush and Cheney aren't running and the main thing Rove and company is concerned about is keeping control of both Houses because otherwise, the whole gang might face prosecution for their crimes which wil continue to be uninvestigated as long as the Republicans have control.

Anyway, it sounds far-fetched but I wouldn't put anything past these criminals. Some say Miers was cooked up in a similar fashion, if indeed it was, it worked.

Thom Hartman is the source of this theory, he was filling in for Sam and Janeane on The Majority Report last night.

Rox, that does sound like something Rove would do.

Re the Miers nomination, I was always suspicious that Bush used her to set the stage for Alito.
