I think of 'clarm' as tantamount to 'tharn', a term in Watership Down. Tantamount but not the same. So where Strawberry went into tharn, then Snoogy, in 2009, may go into clarm. Tharn was a kind of paralysis of fright. I believe clarm involves some of today's new level of verbal clamor, mixed into that tharn fright. Perhaps only many soft squeaks.
