How could anyone imagine flying planes into buildings? Well, Tom Clancy for one!

At the very end of Debt of Honor by Tom Clancy.

A pilot for JAL, (Japanese Airline) whose brother and son were both killed in the fight against the Americans, chooses to fly a 747 into the Capitol Building just as the President is giving a speech before both Houses of Congress.

So you are saying that a Commander in Chief has to have seen combat to be allowed to send troops into 'harms way' ?

If so, you would have had to go back to LBJ and JFK to find a Commander in Chief who would be allowed to send troops into combat.

That of course is ridiculous.

MANY of our Presidents have sent our boys to war, having never 'seen the elephant' themselves. The current holder of that office is not unique in that regard.
