As of The Harris PollĀ® #23, April 18, 2003 President Bush is up 18 points, from 52% to 70% on the approval rating??? Are A2K members of a different political nature than than rest of America? Has anyone counted the negative topics verses the positive ones here? If the President were of another party would there still be such popularity in bashing??
Hmm, husker, we at A2K must be unique...my wife is active on some other boards, and the Dubya praise, and anti-Arab sentiments are rampant...personally, I supported ousting Saddam, but now I think it is time for the US to pack up and leave. Despite what the news says about cheering Iraqis praising Bush, my feeling is that the general opinion in Iraq, is "Thanks, but please don't make us force you out by staying too long."
As to party, Dubya did get off to a bad start, what with the vote scandal and all...perhaps a different president, rather than a different party...he can only ride the war thing so long before popular opinion shifts again, and I do not think he is smart enough to build on the war aftermath. I predict a one-termer.
A2K has an intelligent membership (for the most part)
I think A2K, as well as it's greatest source of members, that other site we know so well, lean quite to the left, to the contrary of what many people say. I appreciate the moderated discussion of A2K, however, and try not to offend with my slightly right of center opinions.
I'm curious as to what response this post may generate, because I know exactly where I sit on the US political spectrum and I've been accused before of being someplace quite else.
If you look closely you can see the strings.
Unlike the previous president where, if you looked closely, you could see that his pants were unzipped.
I'm pretty much with cavfancier on this one. Most Iraqis seem glad to be rid of Hussein; they would also be glad to see us on the way out.
Second term for Bush? Depends on who survives the Democratic Party's nominating process. We are continually voting for the least bad candidate.
When it comes to politics, I pretty much go with what I feel, and don't really lean to one side or the other. Personally, I think politics were invented to distract the general public from concentrating on deeper issues regarding the human race, but hey, that's just me
Money is not the root of all evil, just a symptom of a greater problem that often involves politics. Despite all this, my wife swears I am a conservative....
OK there is some humor here I really like!
Being a President is like getting put in a massive Catch-22 or No-Win Situation. Some get in by open zipper policy and some by the chit of there pants. An then after that, it's either all uphill or downhill depending on your point of view.
