crayon851,

I see you have met the illustrous Mr. Setanta? Yes, he does come off to be a bit gruff, doesn't he? I have often found myself at the brunt of his ridicule. People may not have come to A2K to be ridiculed for their age but they should expect to be ridiculed for their beliefs. That's just the way it is.

I am persona non grata around here right now. That's ok. But, I would like to give you a bit of advice if I may, nothing you say to Setanta about his behavior is going to be met with shall we say graciousness? So, you are wasting your breath, as asking him for respect is the same thing as asking for special treatment to him.

I have such mixed mixed feelings when I read this thread - I'm a Roman Catholic, baptised and been to Holy Communion and am entertaining thoughts of regularly going to church again. That last comment however, may demonstrate to you that I have conflicting feelings about my religion, so much so that I appear as 100% sinful to my friends who are faithful.

Many on A2K probably know of my support for:
- death penalty
- abortion (especially PRC's one child policy, which I believe as one of the best social strategies a country could implant)
- contraception (to battle overpopulation and STDs)

Yet there are times when I have overwhelming feelings of guilt for supporting these views. But being realistic, I still do support them. Sometimes I wish I was at one of the two ends - other completly conservative or completely liberal. I hate being in the middle!

OMG (Set, if you dont understand what this means, it means oh my gosh/god)

I never meant for the age question to be a question of redicule. It was a simple question requesting your ages, and nothing more. As i said in my earlier post, I wanted to compare your ages to mine to see whether or not I had to catch up. If the majority of this community had been around my age, then that would mean I would have to catch up and do so quickly, with most posts beign filled with depth, deductions, and insight. In comparison to mine, they are on a levely beyond mine at the moment. However, if you guys were older, then it would mean that I am okay at this age and I still have time to catch up. THE QUESTION ASKED HOW OLD THE INDIVIDUALS OF THIS COMMUNITY WERE AND WAS IN NO WAY AND WILL NEVER BE USED AS A MEANS OF RIDICULE. THE QUESTION OF HOW OLD YOU PEOPLE ARE IS JUST THAT, HOW OLD ARE YOU

Thanks MA for your replying to my post, and yes he does seem pompous and arrogant. I do not know whether he enjoys berating the users of this forum or not, but what he said to me and about my comment was unwarranted.

SET maybe you should reconsider how you read my posts, if you had then maybe you would have not responded the way you did

While you are conflicted in your views, nonetheless, you're not accepting the church doctrine as absolute. This matters--you think for yourself.

Ma... quote ( as asking him for respect is the same thing as asking for special treatment to him. )
Asking for respect is called "special treatment" I was always taught that one had to "earn" respect... Sep has earned my respect many times over, I'm sure you have "earned" much respect from your God.... unfortunately for you, it doesn't mean much in the real world.

I can't speak for Sep... but this old saying might be of help to you... Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
So when Sep starts throwing stones... duck.

Lightfoot,

And I was always taught to treat other people with the respect I would want them to show me.

Setanta asked:
Would you murder for Jesus?

Didn't Jesus murder himself?

Your mocking of Jesus and pure hatred toward Christianity/theism certainly ascertains your immaturity and willingness to just piss people off. Get a life and please stop irritating people. You sure aren't being a good role model for atheists, your kind will never get into the office at this rate.

Who are you adressing, Bobbles?

And who exactly is 'your kind'? Shocked

I'm addressing the original poster, who has had similar issues, and has insulted both my intelligence and religion in past occasions. "Your kind" is in reference to atheists.

P.S. - "The Office" is in reference to the US Presidency, whereas currently the population majority would deny an atheist/agnostic the role.

I'm Christian, but i have to say that i just think that you shouldn't really question why a person follows a religion - it's their right. also, i think rudeness is a quality none of us should try to possess. I think the bible was right in stating that you shouldn't steal, kill, or have jealousy for others. Be happy with who you are, and yourself.
no offence to anyone, of course. This is just my personal opinion.

oh, by the way, for the poster, i wouldn't do it 'cause the bible says not to do it, so i wouldn't be requested to do such a thing.
it's a good statement, though

Whether or not you are pissed off is a matter of complete indifference to me. You apparently don't know how to use the verb "ascertain" properly in a sentence. That your imaginary friend superstition is offended by what i post is no measure of my maturity, although your raging and marginally coherent response certains says a good deal about you. I've not the slightest intention of being a role model for anyone, nor have i any interest in running for public office. As your later post suggests that being an atheist would mean i would never qualify for the office of President of the United States, i cannot express my sense of relief at the thought.

That has to be one of the goofiest, most idiotic posts i've seen here--not the most, but certainly it deserves an honorable mention. I expect no less from religionists.
