i am sort of awake, but a tad foggy in the noggin.

i have serious doubts about being able to function at my job today... but it was worth it!

it was great to see the familiar faces, and to meet the new faces of Walter, username and RJB...

I have pix ready to post. Does anyone have reservations about having them online? Does anyone want to see the pix before hand? I don't have any good shots of region and jes. And, only one not so great shot of rosborne.

well, I had a really good time. My first gathering, tho I'd heard about others going back to abuzz from the friend who first got me on there. And I was kinda starstruck--all these legendary posters, kris and ros and george and jes and andrew and reg and johnboy and of course the guest of honor walter, who all turned out to be great, funny, sensible people. Who would have imagined?

We discovered that jes has the patience of a saint, calming things when someone gets up on their high horse and goes shouting off in all directions (on the board, not there at the table). And, boy, do people do it. We learned that yes those water softener posts are real and that a2k is apparently now one of the net's prime sites for water softening, and that the posters take water REALLY seriously and even have flame wars about it.

We put in nominations for the current reigning a2k maniac. The crusader seemed to be the consensus choice, followed by the knight and the cobra. Of course we dissed Slappy at great length. You better make the next one, bud, or you're in it deep.

Lovely meeting all of you, and the Arboretum is a GREAT choice for the next one (at least it is as long as it's not January when we do it).

I believe Walter had "Penny the Hamster" with him. Sozobe has been asking for photos on her thread:

I'm fine with any pics anyone wants to post. Go for it. It was a public venue so we were probably tracked by satelite before going in, and then photographed on hidden camera once inside anyway. Smile Might as well make it all public.

"Oligonucleotides Targeting the CR4-CR5 Region of Human Telomerase RNA"

A couple of folks asked me what my daughter's research was going to be.
That's it.
I have no idea what it means either.

so, should I assume that Walter will be ok with the pictures online because he's had them online before?

Walter only objects to the nudes, so just don't post those and you'll be fine.
