my poll numbers are to ****, I need to pass a lot of bullshit legislature so I can get a third term. I'll have the boys in the studio make another tape if I have to.... that's how much I care about the american people.

Or...I think we're in danger and I don't want the people to grow complacent.

That's much more realistic.

Brandon9000 - Again, I agree. I have always thought that bin Laden and/or his henchmen were a serious threat. Besides standing in front of our houses with rocket launchers on our shoulders, what can the average person do?

Basically, what Bush is looking for, is some good P.R. His credibility has vanished. Personally, I am more and more disenchanted with him, but I DO think that he is on the right track when it comes to the nature and scope of the threat from terrorists.

Yes. He says that the West is in dreadful danger unlike anything we've faced in modern history, and I think he's correct.

Nice one, Booms.

I thank that Sammy's latest tape is his attempt to assert himself. I
seriously doubt whether he has the power to effect a truce or even that
he could engineer another major attack on the US.

Having said that, I absolutely take him seriously. He was behind one of
the most heinous crimes of age. Is everything possible being done to
bring him to justice? I don't think so. And that infuriates me.

There is still a threat from the jihad movement. It does not depend on
Sammy's leadership. It was there before him. It will be there when he's
gone.

I know there has to be a thread where we discussed this Bush statement about not being concerned about OBL but I can't seem to find it.

I'd love to know what people said about it back when Bush uttered it.

Anybody know where/how to find it?

it's amazing how bin laden conveniently releases a tape or a threat each and every time bush needs a boost in the polls or needs to get the people's fright level elevated in order to push through some agenda.....

Yeah, but sometimes I think they're trying to provoke him into issuing a
statement. (If so, it worked.) I'm guessing the spooks have some parts
of the suspected tape conduit under observation. The last Predator hit,
which seemed to target al-Zawahri, came not long after he appeared on
tape.

Bush seems to be saying Bin Laden is a threat so let me continue to exercise dicatatorial powers.

The true patriots are those of us not willing to give our rights for (perceived) security.
