Any thing you have to do to stand up for the things that you believe, I'm all for, no matter how small. It's the people that don't care that are the problem with American society, and there are a lot of those people in this thread.

To those people I say why even bother replying to this thread at all? You don't exercise your power as an individual citizen so what good are you in the grand scheme of American politics?

It appears your reasoning goes from my dislike of protests to uselessness in American politics, to not exercising powers as an individual citizens, to supposed apathy towards political problems. That's quite a jump.

I am apathetic towards this issue in that I don't care that 50 cents in my phone bill goes towards the war. And if i did and stopped paying I would not pretend like I was noble or in some kind of heroic danger.

What did you think of the article I cut and pasted? The original under the thread America in Deep Doo Doo I figured would get criticized for being too long, but it's really a good article in its entirety.

Well, I don't usually read articles that are more than 2 or 3 paragraphs long. I think this article could be summarized significantly. But if someone does take the time to read it they will see that it does reflect the current state of our economy. The farm analogy is a perfect example. If we keep ignoring our countries financial situation there will be no more country. Instead we may have to prove our loyalty to China one day.

I'm not sure what the article has to do with a phone tax, but if the intention was to show that people need to pay more attention to the world around them and remember our history than it is a good example.

Most of the so called conservatives today operate on the premise that as long as they remain safe the government can do what ever they want. They vote against what is in their own economic best interest as long as it will keep the terrorist away.

The Republicans are so into this war on terror that they have actually allowed the Democrats to become more conservative and fiscally responsible with our tax dollars than they are. They have allowed the Democrats to take over issues that are typically Republican such as states rights and smaller government. They don't even see what they are doing to their own party because they are too busy thinking about God and the terrorists. They run the government on faith and faith is nothing more than a gamble. We are on a downward spiral because of Republican "leadership" on almost every aspect of our daily lives. It's no gamble say that out country is going to hit bottom hard.
