@Swimpy,
wearing: black cords, happy-making new Merrells (so comfy), and an OSU t-shirt. I wanted to wear just a plain red shirt with no logos to signify my support for both UW-Madison AND the Buckeyes (they play tonight), but the only one I have is too big now. Plus Buckeyes trump Badgers these days. But I still like the Badgers. (And how stupid/ confusing is it that the Badger mascot is named "Bucky"? I call our mascot -- a buckeye -- "Bucky" all the time because that actually makes sense. More sense than "Brutus." "Brutus Buckeye"? What?)

feeling: OK-ish. My ginormous to-do list is shrinking, which is nice, but a shrunken to-do list is not a completed to-do list and I want it done.
Seeing: beautiful fall day out my window (copied from Swimpy, me too, amazing out there.)
wanting: the big shindig to be a success.
looking forward to: looking at the big shindig in my rearview mirror.

When's the baby due, Swimpy?

@sozobe,
Due date was changed from last Friday, 10/8 to next Wednesday, 10/20. It would be nice if he/she was born on the 20th. That was my late sister's birthday.

@Swimpy,
That would be nice!

What caused the change in the due date?

@sozobe,
Dil had a history of irregular periods, in fact she went three years without one, so pinpointing the due date was a guess at best. Measurements of her abdomen appear to be the most predictive.

@Swimpy,
I see... it's always a certain amount of guesswork but that makes it even harder for sure.

The 20th sounds good.

I want to hold a baby. Sad (Not HAVE a baby, with all that entails, just hold one for a while.) I know some cute toddlers but there are no babies in my vicinity just now.

@Swimpy,
I assumed the baby just wanted to get as close to a Halloween birth as possible.

@farmerman,
There's farmer, good to see here..

wearing: jeans, long sleeved tan and grey striped tea, leather sandals
hearing: the beagle named Bibi barking
eating: about to eat some thawed leftover spaghetti with sauce.
About to start a bolognese sauce, the slow kind, for polenta another day.
drinking: pellegrino water and lemon squeeze
feeling: on the overwhelmed side re bills and things to do about that, but ignoring that for a few days
seeing: fall light. One thing I wish about my new city is that October here would be at least twice as long.
wanting: big list, but it depends on me to activate..
looking forward to: getting together with my cousins, same cousins I mentioned having such a wonderful time with last year. They're in town for a trade show (they have an exhibit for his business).

Why do you tease us with such delicious sound news Ossobuco? I have never heard of the combination. Bolognese sauce and polenta. Sounds yummy.

drinking: Water.
hearing: The podcast of All Songs Considered featuring an odd acoustic song from the 80's pop band Tom Tom Club. Kind of grating on my nerves given my current mood. Fast forwarded now.... Now I basically erased the entire podcast as I'm not in the mood to listen to it.
feeling: Empathy for Ossobuco on the money side (or lack of money) and the overwhelming bills that never get smaller.
wanting: Many things from Ossobuco's big list to come to her more easily. Plus I'm a little nervous about my jobs' inevitable moving from one location (off site) to another where we are in the same building as the head lawyers of the firm that's employing us.
looking forward to: Going to a haunted house this Thursday evening. Got to do something that's seasonally appropriate.

Probably you haven't heard of it because people from Bologna don't do it (I don't know, but I suspect not). I think they are strict re what goes with what, as in ragu goes with tagliatelle. I, on the other hand... don't mind mixing an expensive ingredient (meat, slow cooked) with a cornmeal base.

Looking quickly, I see Marcella Hazan has a recipe for polenta with sausages..

Anyway, when I make a bolognese sauce, I make a lot, so I toss it with a lot of things, including homemade pasta.

I think it was the ocarina or recorder. Annoyed the hell out of me too. You should listen to the Dylan bootleg stuff, though. Very interesting.

Hello you all!

G'day to you, Missy. Smile

wearing: old khaki pants, long sleeved dark khaki t shirt, leather sandals, messy head of (as yet uncombed) hair.
hearing: a much too noisy radio blasting from a house being renovated a few doors down my street.
eating: nothing yet (10:55 am.) Toast soon.

feeling: a bit jaded. Just finished interim reports for the classes I've been teaching. Got up at the crack of dawn to do them. Now the rest of my day is free! (This is my day off.) Yee har! : )
seeing: far too much of my computer screen this morning.
wanting: (No, needing more than wanting.) A big blast of Vitamin D. I'll ring my friend C soon. We can do an afternoon walk, afterall. Exquisite sunny day outside. (26 C degrees predicted!)
Looking forward to: This current stint of casual teaching to be over. I'm hoping the teacher I've been replacing can return to work this coming Monday, so I can be a Free Woman again. : )
