AV, I agree with Slappy that Mercedes are solid cars.

The only type of "warning" I would give is to be prepared for unbelievably high prices on parts/labor when they do arise.

That's the beauty of this deal. I've had the same guy working on the company vans and trucks for 25 years. This was his wifes car, so I know who has owned it, and have the entire maintenance history on it. Plus he will work on it when need be. It's as good as it gets when you buy a used car!!

Hopefully his wife doesn't get mad at him for selling the car, begin divorce proceedings, and accuse him of downloading child porn, causing him to have to flee to Mexico to avoid a stint in the California "rectalry".

That's just about what happened to my last indie mechanic.

Not at all ... she's out shopping for a new one! Apparently there's a real sexy sport model she's after Smile

Any warnings related to this Benz?
"Costly to repair" said some of his friends
But they were just green with envy.

cjhsa, did you ever solve the problem. I have something very similar in a 1997 e300 and am really frustrated.

Yes we did. The $1500 pump that handles the ABS, ESP, etc. was clogged up. We beat on the thing with a rubber mallet until it started working. I mean, why not try?

E320 ABS & BAS idiot lights
I have the same issue. The ABS signal started mid-trip on a 90 degree day. A week later the BAS light came on. I am going to check my brake fluid level. I thought the indicator light might originate from a short coming from the insert clip on my seat belt restraint. The original ABS indicator light seemed to go out when I jiggled my seat belt. Any thoughts?

So, you can get it to reset? Definitely top off the brake fluid as that is what is used for all of the ABS, BAS, ESP hydraulics. Make sure to get the right grade - I think Mercedes, like BMW, requires DOT4 synthetic. That's what I use in my bimmer.
