Wonderful song, indeed! I always remember the part where he draws the outline of his hand on the chalkboard. Another good song from this cartoon is the closing number about a Lord's blessed Christmas, or sumpin' like that.
Allan, the song to which I refer goes something like, "...where are two shoes that click to my clack...." I can hear that tune in my head as we write. Don't remember the other, however.
Sorry, all. Just variations on a theme.
The Alastair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol," but "Miracle on 34th Street" with Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwenn, and Natalie Wood is also good.
"You, a clerk on 15 shillings a week, with a wife and a family, talking about a merry Christmas. I'll retire to Bedlam."
- Ebeneezer Scrooge
Christmas with the Kranks was great, too.
Phoenix,
I think you would like it's a wonderful life, especially if you like Jimmy Stewart and/or Donna Reed.
I'm gonna give my shout to Home Alone.Great slapstick comedy
Bad Santa, with Billy Bob Thornton.
"I beat the **** out of some kids today. But it was for a purpose. It made me feel good about myself. It was like I did something constructive with my life or something, I dunno, like I accomplished something. "
I love Billy Bob Thornton. One of the most versatile actors I have ever seen.
I like him too. Plus, I hate most X-mas movies; therefore, I must like Bad Santa: the first intelligent movie about X-mas.
Well, we can just agree to disagree on that point.
Did you see him in that movie with Robert Duvall? I can't remember the name of it but Robert Duvall was a preacher on the run that had killed someone with a baseball bat?
The Apostle? No, haven't seen that one.
Yes, I think that is the name of it. It was an excellent movie. Just excellent.
I've seen Duvall on the Letterman show to promote this movie some time ago, it seemed like a great film to me then, it still does now.
Maybe I'll just deliberately never go to see it, that way I always have a movie to look forward to.
Black Christmas!
Not only the best Xmas film ever made, but also one of the best horror films made.
Directed by Bob Clark who would go on to direct Americas fave Xmas film "Christmas Story"
The first part of Fanny and Alexander (familjen Ekdahl firar jul) sums up much of the Swedish Christmas idyll for me (except for uncle Karl's farting performance).
Love Actually is also a heartwarming Christmas film.
So is "Period of Adjustment" with Jane Fonda, Jim Hutton and Tony Franciosa. It's an older movie, from an old Tennessee Williams play I believe, and Christmas is the setting but not the focus. Good stuff.
The Santa Claus
Tim allen is great!
A hilarious family movie with a great cast and scenes that really give you the water works.
yeah, the Santa Claus"E". Funny movie.
Jingle All the Way is pretty good too.
