Anyone been there? Know a good steakhouse?

I have to go there for a week on businees and need things to do in the evenings. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

The "nice" part of town is across the river (to the south), on the bluff. The cheap, "woohoo, let's party" part of town is no either side of the national road as it approaches the river from the north.

However, my recollection is from 30 years ago, and the weather was heavy rain and very drunk out when i was there . . .

NOT my favorite city.
But it's famous for good meat!
Their specialty, fried kid.
The most famous meat restaurant: "El Rey del Cabrito".

That's it . . . El Rey del Cabrito means "King of Kid" (as in little, itty bitty goat).

Sorry i missed that when i was there, Fbaezer . . .

Yahoo travel rates that restaurant number two in Monterrey (they didn't say which was number one) . . .

At this site, they also say: "other dishes, like the magnificent grilled beef cuts, should not be overlooked"--so it seems it might qualify as a steak house. I do recommend trying the kid, though, it's a tender and juicy meat, not unlike good quality pork, if properly prepared.

I knew Fbaezer would have the low-down skinny . . .

This is my hometown, How was your trip?

Best restaurant in town is El Mirador, we have lots of american franchise restaurants, chilis, applebees, etc... hooters just open

I bet you came here because some new american factory is moving down here, yep lots of cheap labor....

/i make as an engineer as much as an american waiter....

Had a wonderful trip. Had some good dinners and some not so good dinners. The El Granero grill was especially satisfying. Did not care for cabrito.

Spent an evening down around the marco plaza and the antigua barrio. Had a good evening in some of the local establishments. People were very friendly.
