Good news for the envrionment ~
On January 12, 2006, the California Public Utilities Commission approved a $2.9 billion solar rebate and incentive program to subsidize the installation of one million rooftop solar systems (or 3,000 megawatts) over the next decade! Along with an additional $300 million in incentives for 2006 approved by the commission last month, the total $3.2 billion solar program is the largest in US history and one of the top three largest solar programs in the world.
The commission approved the program after receiving unprecedented public support, including a large number of public comments?-nearly half of which came from Union of Concerned Scientists activists.
Thanks to your support, and to the hard work and dedication of many of other Californians over many years, we can now celebrate a program that will reduce global warming emissions by tens of millions of tons, improve air quality, and create thousands of California jobs while further spurring the solar market.
Congratulations and thank you!
