So, you don't believe the way the Bible explains it?

I know there is truth throughout the Bible, but it is not written like a history book.

(sorry, I got locked-up)

The New American Bible.
But I was half joking, though.

Ok, I know nothing about that Bible so I can't speak to that.

Half joking? About what?

I was kidding about not agreeing with my Bible. I doubt any version out there will say everything exactly like I understand it to mean. But I was half joking because I don't believe the Bible is meant to be read that way, anyway.

I mean, the Bible can't be read as an accurate historical account. There are inconsistencies. The Holy Spirit must guide the reader.

I definitely agree that the Holy Spirit has to lead the reader.

That's for sure. I hate some of the arguing that goes on in here sometimes. I really hate it when I let myself get drawn into it.

I'm sure that we can find something to argue about. Go ahead, shoot.

Oh no. I prefer not to argue. I like just exchanging ideas without the attacks on what everyone thinks or believes. I learn much more that way.

Of course. I mean "argue" in a civilized way. Debate. No egos, no assumptions. But I don't want to drag you into anything.

Okay I'll just give you a nudge, then.
What do you think about me being a non-Christian? Am I going to burn?

echi,

That is a question I cannot answer for you. I know what the Bible says. But, I think that God is the only one that can truly answer that question for anyone.

I have no problem with debating or discussing. None at all.
