Static aside, this is a consistent shock that occurs after just sitting in the car for a minute or two. You get out and touch the door and ZAP!

I noticed that you can hear the engine in the AM radio.

Do I have a grounding problem, a bad spark plug or wire, a short, or what?

I had a car once, that frightened the life out of me every time I got out.
I asked my mechanic to check it out, but he could find nothing wrong.I sold the bloody thing in the end. It was giving me a nervous disorder.

It either had an evil spirit lurking within the chassis somewhere, or it was just my electric personality.

Good luck!

I have a confession to make. I entered this thread for the wrong reasons, as I misread the title and thought that it said:-

"Getting Shocked Exciting Car!".

Sorry!

Me all the time as well.

I am extremely conductive apparently. I can make those bottle openers that talk when the metal touches the metal, work without touching metal. I shock everyone and everthing I touch. Before you get out, touch your key, and keep touching it as you get out. Sometimes, it helps.

I often wonder if high iron causes it.

Don't have a Honda.

Not a Honda, a 1998 Mercedes. Belongs to my Dad.

Two previous Hondas did it too, not that it addresses the purpose of the thread at all.

It happens in my Rav4, always hold onto the metal of the door as you exit the car and this will stop the static shock, you can also purchase or even make your own rubber strips from tyre tubes, and attach from the undercarriage of your car to the ground, this will earth it.

Be careful!

I remember reading about a guy who caught himself on fire while pumping gas because of that static thing!

Might be an urban legend. Might not be.

I never investigated it because in Oregon they come out and pump our gas for us.
