Back to the Future was awesome - as was LOTR. for a lesser known choice, I'd have to go w/InfraBlue on the Red/Blue/White triology.

Hands down, it looks from the poll like LOTR is the big winner.

Umm. DUH. Lord of the Rings is the BEST movie EVER!!!!!!!! None of these other movies even come close. I don't see how you could compare them to LOTR. Surprised Cool Exclamation

I will agree and the whole concept of a studio filming three parts of a trilogy at once is astounding. Astoundingly successful, but can it be done again? I don't think so. It was taken from a book that was voted the best book of the 20th Century.

Lord of the Rings, and the Star Wars Trilogy (A New Hope -> Return of the Jedi) are awesome. Back to the future trilogy is hilarious. I love that movie; I didn't like the second one much though.

Nice to see someone put their hand up for a foreign trilogy......Three Colours.
In that case,I would like to nomonate the Korean revenge/kidnap trilogy, directed by Park Chan Wook....
1. Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
2. Oldboy
3. Sympathy For Lady Vengeance

How long untill Hollywood discoveres these treasures, remakes them, and totally buggers them up??????? I believe Nick Cage is pencilled in already for Old Boy Crying or Very sad

I gave my vote to Matrix. Maybe I'd vote for Red Dragon, Hannibal and I don't know the first part's original name trilogy, if that's a trilogy at all. Is it ?

And the first part is actually "Red Dragon" where Hannibal Lector first appears, previously made as
"Manhunter" with William Peterson of CSI fame as the FBI agent and Brian Cox as Hannibal, directed by Michael Mann in 1986.

Sorry, I was responding to clarify Mirage's post -- you had them in the right order in spite of the movie "Manhunter."

"Manhunter" is actually a very good flick and I recommend seeing it if not just for comparison to the newer interpretation of the Hannibal saga.

"Manhunter" is an excellent film and I would recommend it as really a part of the Hannibal experience.

I agree. Manhunter is an excellent film.

I read somewhere that Brian Cox, the guy who played Lecter in that film, and who's performance was outstanding, was offered the reprise role in Silence, but he turned it down.

Would that not be a turn of events that would have resulted in a crucial omission in the annals of cinema history?

In my book, the Pagnol trilogy: Marius, Fanny, Cesar is tops. Kieslowskis Bleu, Blanc, Rouge is next.
