There's quite a bit of info in this forum about painting, drawing, crafting, etc etc. So let's get one going about Photoshop. Show off your work, ask questions, supply answers, etc. etc. etc.
Cheers!
Those are some neat techiniques. I'm interested in the very first one.
What version do you use?
How did you do it? (excluding the grid and text, mostly how did you do the bottom right corner?)
The bottom right corner was done using the Polygon lasso tool to make the shapes, and paintbucket to fill in the different shades. The shapes were fairly simple geometric ones that I then applied several opacity changes to. I use version 7.0.1.
Those are very cool! I love the middle one. The text appears too small on here to read though and I would love to know what it says.
"Deciding to put on the sneakers and go for a walk around the block? Step out of your doorway and what is there? A street? A sidewalk? In another country a man has a similar thought. He doesn't bother with sneakers, and the sidewalk is made of sand.
The world's too small a place for hatred. Everyone can live together, if you only stop and consider that the person on TV is just like you.
So go out for your walk, you'll enjoy it. So will he."
It was a poster concept I came up with while trying to come up with some things to pad my portfolio with.
I like it very much!
Are you a freelance artist or do you do this for a company, or what?
I'm a portrait photographer. Most of the photoshopping I do is zit removal and that kind of stuff. I play around with it on my own personal photos. I'm working up a new portfolio of images that are not the traditional portrait stuff.
Here is one of my favorites:
Beautiful work!
Yes, I'm a Graphic Designer by both degree and trade. I manage the graphics department of my company.
Thank you!
I still consider myself a photoshop virgin. I've been playing with it for about a year now and have managed to teach myself a few things.
I'm always impressed with work like you've posted in that I know that stuff is not easy to do and it is easy for it to go past beautiful into gimmicky. Restraint seems to be a big part of it.
I know how hot the competition is for jobs in graphic arts so obviously your talent is recognized. I love it when that happens!
A2K member Vivien does some really cool photoshop art. She's a painter. Her painting really informs her digital art but the style is very different.
I hope she stops by here to post!
Oh yes I can see the polygon tool now. I never have the patience to make custom shapes w/ that tool. That's real creative, I like the 3d look you gave it by filling different sides in. Really good job. I'll try and post some of my photoshop work in the next day or two.
Excellent, would love to see it!
Here's a link to another that I found on my harddrive here.
DESKTOP IMAGE
I won't link the image directly here since it's 1024x768 and would really screw up the forum spacing.
I really like your style and the way it includes nice grids and random text paragraph's and the polygon tool. I love it. I'm workin on gettin mine up right now.
Interesting effect there with the 3rd image (swirled lines etc). How'd you arrive at that image? What did you begin with?
Here's some direct links to more of my photoshop art:

Oh geeze I don't even know if I remember. I think It had somethin to do w/ Polar coordinates and of course the twirl filter. And you duplicate it three times. All blending modes to overlay I believe. Then you mess w/ hue and saturation until you get the desired effect. For some reason photoshop didn't save my layers, I must have flattened the image bfore i saved, crap. Let me try and find this one.
The omst important part was getting the three layers into overlay mode after being twirled, that gives it the inter-weaving effect.
Pretty nice work there. You have a nice style with textures and other such things.
Look forward to seeing more.
Cheers!
Thanks, I'll post some more when I get a few more things made. Right now I'm going to start working on a background for large monitors, but it's gotta be something new. I'll show you when I'm done.
New desktop wallpaper I pulled together. 800x600. (hope no one minds)
