Any of ya'll out there with kids in college? Do they need a notebook in the classroom, a PC in the dorm. An i-Pod at the gym?
Im fishing for Christmas presents here.
A notebook/laptop might be cool - but check what the college offers in terms of networking so that it's compatible.
As far as I-Pods go...., well I did a bunch of research on mp3 players - if it's for gym work, running etc, you really should get a solid state player. - one with a velcro arm band attachment.
Thank you for answering. I will check with the college.
The i-pod, I can not figure out. The one to go with (the newspapers) is apple i-pod. So, I did a search. Got the site, but right under it was a class action lawsuit....Gezzz.And what do you do with it? Where do you get the music to download?
Velcro-arm band makes good sense for my kid.
Thank you.
Lots of times the college will have a student buying or recommend program for pv or laptop, make sure you check and see what is available.
ipod's are up and coming I was just reading an article that Univeraity of Washington had 8,400 downloads of lecture podcasts this semester already.
Again thank you!
Maybe I should have subjected this:
What the heck is a notebook?
An i-pod?
Hey Husker
Are podcasts done wirelessly or do you have to connect your ipod to a networked computer?
I decided agains buying an Ipod - I preferred something less locked into the applebuydrmcycle.
dunno might have to do some more research on that
IPODS to seem to be a little over priced IMO
Great question hingehead!
On that question I ask where do you download the music?
yellowlab - funny

I love this site and all the friendly help!
I'm not that far out of college, and a lap top (I think what you referred to as a notebook--mac makes one...?) is all you need for dorm and for lectures - that way they can bring it with them if they want it. iPods are huge right now, I'm attached to mine!
If you're thinking of buying a computer, definitely check with the college, most have deep discounts on specific models at the bookstore or distributors they have deals with (Dell is big on campuses). Good luck!
Thank you! (dang its cold here) Think I will stick with Dell............
Thank you so much.
Cold it's about 7 here right now and -3 tonights low
