Since there is absolutely no proof of this, IMO what the religionists are doing is wishful thinking on a grand scale. It is on a par with the belief of the Islamic self immolators that they are going to hang out in heaven for eternity with 72 virgins.
I think you notice i used the word 'believer' in there. So it is not to do with "proof" in the sense that you use it, it is to do with FAITH
If you believe that Jesus is God, and that what He says is true. Then you will find proof. But you must have faith first.

Also I resent that comparison.
Quote:Nick- Why? Is not their faith as worthy of respect as yours?
Of course i respect their faith. But i do not accept it as true.
The comparison with the 72 virgins thing is what i meant. it is ludicrous
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
(The Apostles Creed)
just a little bit different from 72 virgins dont you agree?

It's a lovely poem, but what does that have to do with the faith of one person or another?
please.. i haven't insulted anyone elses faith, i have said i respect other faiths. So dont insult mine
Phoenix32890 wrote:The point that I am attempting to make is that when on suspends reason and logic, and relies on faith, one person's faith is as good as anyone else's.
The reason i don't accept other faiths as true is because there can only be one truth. the Catholic faith is the One True Faith.
Pheonix32890 wrote:Nick- But those folks believe it. Is that not what you said faith is about?
No, it is not just about believing somthing, its about believing the right thing.

you called the Apostes Creed:
Quote:You have contradicted yourself by your remark about believing the "right thing".
No - I told you earlier:
Quote:i respect their faith. But i do not accept it as true.
thoroughly enjoying this exchange
Quote:Then you call the Islamic concept of 72 virgins "ludicrous".
I did not call the cocept ludicrous. I said your comparison was ludicrous

Am I infringing on your rights?? Please tell me how
