Thank you so much for your quick reply. Two more before I go, for 69a, I come up with "greasy spoon", but I cannot relate it to the first part of the clue "dirty restaurant", however it covers the second part "dirty cutlery".

For 49d I have "grooms". Brush = Groom Grooms usually wear hired suits.

What are your suggestions.

You can forget about "greasy spoon" as I found this definition:

greasy spoon
n. Slang
A small, inexpensive, often unsanitary restaurant.

As you can see I'm trying hard without asking straight out for the answers. I'll be more than happy if you could just verify them for me, if I'm really stuck, well than I have to think again.....

69A. Cheap restaurant = Greasy spoon
dirty = greasy
cutlery = spoon
Encarta Dictionary definition:
Greasy Spoon Cheap cafe: A small, cheap, often dirty cafe, especially one that serves fried food (informal).

49D. Brushes = Brooms

For 25a I have ???h?r? I thought this could be ciphers but that throws 14d out of contention as that word can not finish with i ???
