Things have gotten better in recent years as gays and lesbians are such a strong economic force when we talk, they listen. Ts don't do nearly as well. There have been a couple docs on Discovery and Sundance Channel is running a series on MtoF and FtoM college students which offers insight. But other than that, what you have are the Jerry Springer shows and that ridiculous show on TBS recently where they dressed men as women as a joke.

Because of the lack of information in the MSM, most people can't accurately define transgendered, transvestite, cross-dresser, drag queen, transsexual or even gender itself. Not to mention Gender Dysphoria or Auto-gynophelia. Transgendered people are such a small segment of the population, I don't see this situation improving. Add to the fact that a lot of successfully transitioned TSs, don't want to be assocaited with the LGBs (unless they are lesbian) so they lose the solidarity there.

One day, it would be nice to have a real coalition of all people who face discrimination issues or misrepresentation in the media.
