How often should you replace your brakes? I live in the city and do a lot of stop and go. I have almost 31,000 miles on these brakes. They squeal occasionally but I don't know if it's because they get wet and cold or if they are wearing way down. I'd hate to take it in for nothing and pay a bundle but I'd also hate to destroy my roters and have to pay even more.
When is the standard for brake replacement? Should I just bite the bullet and take the darn thing in?
If in doubt - check it out!
some reputable places will ive you a free inspection
hey husker! how ya feeling?
if you were destroying your rotors, you would hear it.
it is a metal on metal grind that almost EVERYONE hears/feels.. etc.
breaks will squeak from time to time.
If it is a squeak that happens 80% of the time, that is usually a warning sound that the break pads are getting thin.
honestly, at the first 31,000 miles, you should be fine.
Most brake places will give your brakes a " lookin at" for next to nothing.
Do it.
It's more like 40% of the time it squeals. Loudly. I notice these things though. I don't know. I will have the damn things looked at.
I am still pretty sour today so excuse my crappiness.
just be sure to flush
;-)
Have them looked at, but never replace them just based on mileage. I don't like the sound of that squeal, though.
I can give you sour!! LOL
i bet you would make a good squeak too huh?
Remember if you wait too long to have the pads replaced, you'll prematurely wear the rotors.
So get it checked, and stop being a typical woman!
By the way, your engine uses something called "oil." This is supposed to be changed frequently as well.

Kiss my ass. I get my oil changed like clockwork. So take that.
And I can change my own tires, so back off baldy.
YEAH!!
and i can change my own pads too...
wanna see?
Yes, shewolf, I do. Post a video.
Bella, kiss your ass???
Promises, promises.
You probably can't even pump your own gas.
Aren't your brake pads checked as part of state inspection?

too much information ! thank you
And if they are? You only get your car inspected once every 1-2 years. If you need brakes now, you do it. Plus the state isn't going to pay for your brakes...neither are they going to give you a free diagnosis, meaning "you need rotors, or you need just front pads, ect."
I am taking it in this weekend.
