Again, the whore of Babylon is a mystery…but we can be fairly certain about the nature and identity of the great and terrible whore of Babylon.

The fact that the whore of Babylon is referred to as a mystery likely means that we cannot be completely certain as to her identity. The passage does give us some clues, however. Revelation 17:9 explains, "This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits." In ancient times, the city of Rome was known as "the city on seven hills" because there are seven prominent hills that surround the city. So, whatever the whore of Babylon is, we can know that it is somehow connected with Rome. Revelation 17:15 tells us, "Then the angel said to me, "The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages." The whore of Babylon will have great worldwide influence, over people and nations. Verses 10-14 describe a series of eight and then ten kings who affiliate with the beast. The whore of Babylon will at one time have control over these kings (Revelation 17:18), but at some point the kings will turn on her and destroy her (Revelation 17:16).

OK, but what should we do? Stay out of Rome. Well, that may be a good idea. But revelation does not exclude any of the nations from the claim about their consorting with the great harlot.
In chapter 12, vs. 5, it refers to one "who is to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod."

Daniel 2:44 refers to a time when God's kingdom ". . . will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite." So the battle of Armageddon is not a war between nations, it is a war between the nations and God.

We must ask: "What organization has, throughout history, prostituted itself with the worlds governments?"

It is not so much a mystery as one might think.

So far, that makes the most sense to me.

She lulls us all to sleep; the Christians, the Muslims, the Atheists. She ravages the earth. She kills all that denies her. No one may live outside of her womb. And yet: we choose her. We bought her. We can move beyond 'Culture' and save our skins.

Culture is the word he uses most often; though sometimes he uses the word civilization.
He refers to "Takers" and "Leavers". Basically, we are living in an age of Takers. There is no allowance for Leavers. So, we are headed towards our own destruction. Simple enough right?

He has an interesting take on the bible as well. According to what I have read, he believes the bible was actually originally a "leaver" story which was adapted and stolen by the 'takers'.

Anyways, I don't want to derail. This thread just made me think of his writings.

Interesting. But Chapter 18, vs. 4 warns : "Get out of her, my people. . . " Would those who are not in the US be somehow exempt from warning?Clearly, the Vatican makes up a portion of the whore. But all the kings of the earth have come under her influence.

How about this clue? In vs. 23 of the same chapter it says . . . "no voice of a bridegroom and of a bride will ever be heard in you again."

I'm not so sure when it says "Get out of her, my people..." that can't also be taken as do not engage in her practices. After the rapture and during the seven year tribulation, travel from country to country would IMO be rather limited, so physically getting out of any country might not be easily accomplished.

Neo - 'all people of earth'? I guess everyone has to go to one level of gov't to be married. Is it preaching anarchy?

I missed that part for some reason. All of the people of the earth? I don't think so. There will be those that receive the mark of the beast and they will not partake of the wedding feast. Of course, it is offered to all the people of the world, but not all the people accept it.

My understanding of the Book of Revelation is after the rapture, the anti-christ will come fully into power. He will seemingly cure the worlds' ills for awhile. He will gather kings and nations and turn on them. He will do everything he can to completely eradicate God/Jesus and Christianity from the face of the earth. During the tribulation, everyone not taken in the rapture will still have the free will to choose whether they want to serve God or serve the Anti-Christ.

Once the Second Coming of Jesus happens though, there is no more choice.
