I know how you feel, devriesj. They're talking about going to a jazz club after Duke of Perth, but a lot depends on how we're all feeling. It could be a late evening.

I can't miss the Art Institute on Saturday morning, though. If I have to, I'll go without sleep or make it up late Saturday afternoon!

JoefromChicago mentioned a blues place that could be good to go to after Duke of Perth.. the blues place might have been nearby.

If we end up at Kingston Mines after Perth it could definitely be a late night. Both times I was there ended up being 4 o'clock nights. Great live music and good company makes you lose track of time really quickly.

Yeah Eva, I wouldn't want you to miss the Art Institute, especially if you've never been. I would love to go, but I'm not 100% sure I'll make it in the morning! I am such a night owl!

Yeah, Sublime, I was thinking either Kingston Mines or B.L.U.E.S. They're across the street from each other, and both are a long walk/short cab ride from Duke of Perth. Kingston Mines is bigger, but (if I recall correctly) it has a higher cover charge. There's no need to stay until 4 a.m. on Saturday, especially for those who want to go to the Art Institute at 10 a.m. that day.

Also, I bet some of us are still at the art institute in the afternoon... lot to look at.

Certainly no need to stay out to 4 am, but it seems like it can happen all too easily there.

Believe it or not I have never been to B.L.U.E.S. Not a bad option, I had forgotten about KM's cover.

Oh dear. My flights to and from Chicago are on Delta Airlines. It looks like their labor dispute will come to some sort of climax right before our event. If there is a strike, as threatened, my plans could be thrown into disarray.
Delta is pretty much the only carrier out of C'ville and, as a liberal liberal, I would never cross a picket line. Perhaps I should start walking to Chicago.

How about driving to Richmond and flying from there instead?

Re: jazz clubs vs. Art Institute...do we have anything planned for Saturday night? Maybe we could do clubs then instead? Then we could sleep in on Sunday morning and still have plenty of time to make the Big Gathering. Just an idea.....

Boy, I hope that doesn't happen. At first it seemed it wouldn't but I haven't followed it in the last few days.

I suppose a train takes forever...

any way to switch to another airline from another city?

Now set in stone: At the very least, O'bill, Walter, Brooklyn, C.I., RJB, Thomas, Hephzibah, Mac11, Eva, devriesj and Joe will be at Duke of Perth at 6:30 on Friday, May 5th! We'll be enjoying a Fish Fry and drinks. All are welcome. Did I miss anyone?

I wouldn't be averse to going to a blues club on Friday and a jazz club on Saturday. Lots of great jazz venues in Chicago.

And it wouldn't controverse my preferrencies at all.

Metromix shows some quite good events.

I've added a few bits to the itinerary post but I've probably missed some things from the discussion here. I have the yitwails arrival date, but I didn't catch the departure. Also, devriesj will be here for the Duke of Perth, but I didn't notice if that coincides with a Friday arrival and I didn't see the departure.

Let me know if I've missed anything else and I'll update again in a few days.

J_B, I will be there Friday. I'm staying at my sisiter's. I'm not sure when I'm getting in as I may be driving or taking the train, not sure yet, but I will definitely be at Duke of Perth.

Kingston Mines sounds awesome! I'm up for just about anything.

Not getting a lot of sleep doesn't bother me. I have a high adrenaline level anyhow.

Just 3 weeks from today!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Yay!
