I agree, mac! I love your avie, jp! How many do we have coming now? (s'pose I need to check the thread, huh?)
I think it's up to eighteen now, as realjohnboy, eva, and you aren't listed in the positive group yet.
Woo-hoo! Sounds good - can't wait!
Have we an itinerary. I've heard talk about seeing the Art Museum on Saturday. Anything else?
Duke of Perth, Friday around 6pm, I think (it's on the other thread), and I think at least three of us are going on an architecture tour on Friday morning. That's mentioned on this thread not too many pages back...
Okay, thanks for the info, osso. I won't be there Friday morning. (You mean the 5th, right?) Alas, I'm not much of a morning person, either!
A lot of people won't be around on Friday.. there may be interest in a tour Sat. afternoon too. And there are other tours, a riverboat architecture tour, and a trolley tour that was mentioned some time ago. I think some may want to go hear jazz on Sat night...
Where?! You forgot to highlight it, Walter! That is assuming you wanted me to click on it!
I feel like such a "Johnny-come-lately" about this whole get-toger. Thanks for answering my questions.

I suggested going to a blues club after Duke of Perth on Friday night, but that's certainly open to negotiation among those who gather at the Duke.
Everyone should also pick up a copy of the
Chicago Reader, a free newspaper that comes out every Friday and that has listings for all the upcoming events in the city. The Reader is available in many restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and in sidewalk newspaper boxes.
Hmm, I bet we can find it online too; even if what is showing where will change, it'll give us an overview...
dev, now that you're aboard, remember to PM sublime1 your real name so his doorman will let you into his building sunday, if you haven't already. i'm definitely going to the Art Institute saturday, may even join other a2k types if i knew where they'll be; i believe a group's going at 11am.
I sent a premptive pm.
So far the guest list consists of:
Walter Hintelar, Occom Bill, Yitwail, Mac11, RealJohnBoy, CI, Timber, Osso, Eva, Wandel, and Joefromhere (albeit missing a last name).
I still need info from Georgeob, Thomas, Brooke, devriesj, and anyone else that wants to come.
Thanks again sublime, for keeping track of all of us. And to our other Chi-town hosts, too!

I'm partial to Newcity, also available in print (for free, in places all around the city), plus online:

As far as I some said, they wouldn't know until 3 weeks before the gathering if they could attend ...
Will look at that too, smog. My fav paper in Albuquerque is a freebee..
Art Institute is 10 am at the lion on the right, Yitvail... I am guessing we will only wait so long, the nature of the thing is that we move along. That is why I might bring along some flamboyant scarf or drag a palomino behind me. I think it is probably permissible to wander from gallery to gallery mouthing A2k...eeeeee. Probably you will be able to tell me from my strange shoes. I wear danskos, and have for years, usually black or brown leather. However, I got a pair at the Goodwill store for $9. as opposed to $135.00 in just my size. They look like pony hide or somesuch. Keep your eye on feet.
Perhaps we should go to Chicago in some years again?

Young designers float ideas for new Navy Pier
By Blair Kamin Tribune architecture critic
Watching talented young architects attack a big design problem such as the redevelopment of Navy Pier can be enlightening and excruciating. You love their energy and fresh ideas. But their inexperience and flashes of arrogance are enough to make you cringe.
... ... ...
Wonder if that's really in the works, Walter.
Thanks for the head's up, yit-. I got a pm from sublime1 and have given him my real name.
I'd LOVE to go to the art museum again, but I don't know if I'll make 10am. I'm much more of a night owl than a morning person. I guess it depends on how long we stay at Duke of Perth the night before!
osso, thanks for the correction. unlike dev, i'm a morning person by necessity, so i'll plan on joining you. dev, probably won't see you at the perth since my flight doesn't arrive til 7:30pm fri, unless you're there a long time.
We just might, yit-! Not quite sure. Depends on the group, I guess!
