OK, I've decided against Chicago. It's too far, too expensive, and I've been offered a stay in an Italian coastal apartment... and it includes the dysnumeric Mathos. I shall wait, impatiently mind you, for the next NY or Boston meeting.

Gosh, this has been remarkably infantile.

It seems to boil down to, "Beg me to attend or I will make things so unpleasant that NOBODY will want to attend."

Well, I still want to attend, so would love to get moving onto more interesting things.

Like, what time of day should we plan on having it? Starting at say 4:00 PM, with hanging out and maybe some snacks (not sure how the snacks would work), then food at 7:00 (??), then more hanging out? Should we have it be open-ended? (It'd have to finish by midnight.)

It would be nice I think to have it go for a fairly long time, with a core (6-8, maybe) where food will be served and most people will be there at the same time, and then can have overlaps earlier and later according to schedules. Like, some could arrive at 4 and leave at 8, some could arrive at 6 and leave at 10 (to go to a bar), etc.

What do you guys think?

The last sounds very attractive ... and your first sentence is unfortunately too true as well.

Sounds good to me Soz, If it happens to be at my place I could provide snacks and beverages or at least get it started. There is a small store off the lobby to get backups if needed.

Mathos: it can still be quite cold in Chicago in May, you may want to reconsider that boat ride.

I agree with Sozobe. (And I hereby request an A2K button that automatically inserts this sentence into my textfield so I don't have to type it so often.)

The time frame you suggest sounds great to me, soz. I agree about having a "core time" so we can all be there together for part of the time.

Hey, who's bringing a camera? Oh, and the laptop idea is good too - is anyone planning to bring one? I wonder about access in sublime's party room, though.

I'll try to get my "semi-professional" stuff through the various scanners, securitioes etc and hopefully will not forget the bag in my hotel.

I doubt that there is any kind of internet hookup in the party room but there may be a phone line. I will look into it.

Should I go ahead and reserve the room?

As far as I am concerned, you have my blessing. Oh, and by the way: Thank you so much for the effort you are putting into this!

For those interested, there's some great fishing to be had in Lake Michigan.

Das macht nicht mein Deutch Freunds.

Cjhsa, there is good fishing in Lake Michigan but you have to go out a bit, I never had much luck on the shoreline. I'll be doing some GREAT fishing the month after the meet in the boundary waters.
