6 am this morning, I wake up to Jillian SCREAMING.
It isnt a PAIN cry wich was very strange...
So I throw on some clothes and go into her room.
I turn on the light and she is on her stomach , with her left hand bent unnaturally behind her.
Mommy panic begins NOW.
I scooped her out of bed and felt something 'snap".
I sat with her on the floor and looked her up and down and saw nothing, yet my little girl was wailing in my arms.
I pick her up and start to head to our room to get Daddys help because I am so paniced I dont know what to think.
As i reach to open our bedroom door, I see a little fat purple finger on my arm.
Tied , just below her first knuckle is a string. It is SO tight that her finger tip is FAT.. I mean unnaturally HUGE.
I throw the bedroom door open and demand Ian to get me some scissors NOW!!
We run down stairs and get the string off.
With in a few minutes, the swelling is gone and it is blanching normal. She is freaked out and wailing the whole time.
About an hour later, her finger is normal color, temperature and she has her feeling back.
holy ****.
She could have lost that little finger.
She had found the seam in the mattress and, being the typical 'picker' as most babies are, she worked a seam free and wrapped the string around her finger tip.
I honestly have NO clue how long she was there.
No CLUE how long that string was on her finger.
I also had no clue how dangerous the strings of a mattress seam were.
So im hoping that , in posting this story, it helps other parents be aware.. ( as if we are not on edge every second as it is!! here is yet ANOTHER thing to fret about.. )
To remedy this , we have gotten clips to hold down her sheets really tight so she can not pull them off anymore.
> time to go de-stress now <
