I have long thought that a home swap would be a great idea, especially for those of us with longish holidays (retired, perhaps) who want to visit another country for a month or two but would find a hotel too expensive. Is there anyone out there who would like to join me in this? I would like to swap my 3 bedroom cottage-style townhouse for a small place in a city somewhere. Very Happy

Yes, of course I could do it through one of those organisations, but I think to do it informally on A2K would be more friendly, could also avoid the whole fee-paying thing!

I understand - I was sure I'd found one without the fees....

Good luck though, it seems that the people on A2K who share identities are very small cliques - kinda cuts down on the possible destinations.

Hey! I'll swap anytime! Wait.... I don't have a house just yet... and I don't live in one place...but roam around a lot. Anyway, it is a great idea and there are quite a few frequent travelers on the site who happen to have homes.

Happy to swap campervan instead! In fact, more desirable in the States, big distances between A2Kers.

That is a noble offer, Dyslexia my dear. When I make my Grand Tour of your neck of the woods, I will bethink me of it. I take it you don't want to live in my des. res. in cute Totnes.

I'm thinking I'm too bland for Totnes.

I edited a further post about possible tradsies friends, much too discursive.

I may add them here and somehow align you with them, but
I'll just wait a bit before I describe everybody here.

Lose the cat.

And I'm not in the States. I'm in mediaeval southwest England, 20 miles from the ferry to France - for an Aussie that's no distance to the Mediterranean.

ROTFLMAO@Dyslexia's blandness!

Now if I had someone to swap homes with in May, and they happened to be from Chicago but not going to the A2K meeting - that would save me around $400.
