What do you call a politician who votes his opinion regardless of what his constituents want? There's a term for that and I can't for the life of me recall what it is.
Conversely, what does one call a politician who essentially bows down to his or her constituencies every demand?
help me out here : ) and can anyone suggest any books or reading on this specific topic?
thx

A "one-termer"?
How about "principled"?

"Milquetoast"?
On the first question, I don't know what the noun would be, but a politician like that is usually described as voting his/her concience. On number two, people pleaser seems to fit (although, in all fairness, an elected official is supposed to represent the interests of his/her constituency, not get carried away by personal bias).
