It should attract quite a few Germans.

They'll think it's a war cry or something.

Tofu
If you'rre lactose intolerant, tofu is just the thing for you. It's not in any way shape or form a dairy product, but made from soy beans.

As for flavor, well it basically hasn't any; it picks up the flavor of whatever you use in preparing it. Texturewise it comes in various grades, from soft to quite firm. Firm is good if you're making a stew or something similar, as it holds its shape.

I like tofu (once I learnt how to cook it properly).
It's cheap protein for us poor folks. It takes the flavour of most anything. And it can be low-fat. However; I like the texture when it's deep fried the best!

Even if you eat meat; it's a great way to mix in some vegetarian meals into your diet.

Oh, Never thought of looking for it there.
Is it usually in a box or selophane wrap??
Basically if I knew the packaging Id know what I was looking for, as I dont I havnt a clue where to start.
But I shall have a look in produce.

Should it be kept cool?

It could be packaged a lot of ways, but I mostly buy it in small bricks that are in see-thru packaging. It is kept refrigerated. Ask your produce guy!

Vital Wheat Gluten would be a good name for a rock band.

I heard on the radio that some research in the US has found that tofu - even cooked tofu - can lower LDL by about 10% over a couple of months.

No it doesn't. Having high bad cholesterol (LDL) is an indicator of potential heart disease (I'm proof) but you can still have a normal blood pressure and be in danger of developing heart disease (again I'm proof) . High blood pressure is obviously a bad thing and is associated with heart disease and potential for stroke and other afflictions. More than that I can't comment on as I'm not a medical practitioner.

I found tofu!!!
Well, I had to ask for it, a nice lady helped me find it after I spent half an hour going up and down every isle in the shop.
I shall be experimenting over the weekend.

Excellent material girl. I admit I love it deep fried for a few seconds and then with some sweet chilli (the Thai style) dribbled over it.

I like it. Much better than that fattening and unhealthy "Cream" Very Happy

Ah but would Vital Wheat Gluten be as fantastic as Cream? Would their album be "Wheels of Fire" or "Toast on Fire"? Cool
