Quote:OTTAWA, Oct. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- The US-led war in Iraq is creating long-term instability not only in Iraq but in other parts of the world as it keeps breeding extremists brewing hatred toward the West, chief of Canada's spy agency warned Thursday.
"I think from a security and intelligence perspective, the conflict in Iraq may be creating longer-term problems, not just for Iraq but other jurisdictions as well," Jim Judd, director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), told a conference on intelligence studies in Montreal.
Iraq is becoming a "kind of a test bed for new techniques" for Islamic extremists, such as suicide attacks and the use of improvised explosives, he said.
As is the case in Europe, a number of radicals from Canada have slipped across borders to join the fighting in Iraq, and more are planning to follow. These people will pose great dangers once they return, Judd said.
Other experts also warned that the war in Iraq could spawn a new generation of trained warriors -- what they called "shock troops of the new international jihad" -- determined to carry out terrorist attacks against the West.
They said western societies have done a poor job in challenging Osama bin Laden's anti-West doctrines, thus enabling him to gather followers who are presented with a violent world view and taught to despise "corrupting Western influences" from an early age. Enditem

The invasion of Iraq is simply a continuation of that U.S. foreign policy.
The invasion has taken the lives of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis, including ordinary Iraqi soldiers — innocent in the sense that they had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.
The Iraq War Has Made Us neither Safer nor Freer.
