Race Related Riots Break Out In Toledo, Ohio

Toledo, Ohio (AHN) - Saturday afternoon turned real ugly in the city of Toledo, Ohio after local white supremacy groups were set to have a rally in a local park to bring attention to black gang crime. The rally itself earned a legal permit by the city but was canceled shortly before it began as crowds of mostly black teenagers and gang members showed up to fight the all white group.

At least two dozen members of a Roanoke, Va.-based group that calls itself "America's Nazi Party" had gathered at Wilson Park just before noon and were to march under police protection by the Toledo Police Department and the local sheriff's department.

Police used tear gas to break up a rock-throwing crowd of local residents and gang members which turned to destroying ambulances, news and media trucks were over turned, police cars were shot at and had rocks thrown at them,local businesses were looted along with homes as some of them were set on-fire.

The leader of the National Socialist Movement's chapter in Roanoke, Va.,had said before the rally that protesters wouldn't sway the movement's support base.

"We stated repeatedly ... that the local blacks and their political leaders are a bunch of loudmouthed cowards, and that we expect that, when confronted with their criminal behavior by strong and organized white people, would run, hide, and whine. And it appears that is exactly what is happening," Bill White said in a statement.

Police were estimated to have made over 65 arrests as of Saturday evening.

Skinheads and Black Gangs there the same thing on opposite sides. I've been around booth alot and they have the same mentality. I saw this on T.V. Why would you attack a Ambulance passing by and torch a local liquor store.

You're absolutely right. While the American Nazi Party is certainly not endearing to anyone (idiots, if you will). The attacking of an ambulance and the mob scene around the liquor store are the work of simple thugs........IMO

Can we just organize a big showdown between both groups. We could use the space and the resources. The black youth demonstarated exactly what the Nazis wanted them to. The only broblem is they spoke for all of them. This is not over. Were entering a new era of rasicm.

The people who broke the law got arrested. and this wasn't some light weight stuff either. Can you imagine if those ambulance drivers got out of there ambulance. The supremecist had a permit and legal right to march. and the law failed to protect there right. Remember Reginal Denny. I was 4 blocks from there when that happened.

So I suggest we take all the gang-bangers and give them some damn good training, marksmanship to start off with so that they just kill each other rather than random un-aimed innocent deaths, next course would be profit-loss capitalism, you don't torch the booze shops, you liberate them.

Just to clarify, I was agreeing that they were goaded into acting stupid and they were the ones who were arrested. I didn't want anyone to wander by here and think I was suggesting they shouldn't have been arrested.

They really did fall into the dirty mits of the Negro haters.

I remember driving through that area - possibly even that intersection a few hours before the riots. I was taking my Hertz hire car back to LAX. I remember saying how spooky it was as we drove through the area.

Small world. My ex's parents, and he when I met him years before that, lived right near 71st and Budlong, which was close to Florence and Normandie...

I was working at La Cienega and Washington during the hours you're recounting. Not in the midst really, but the building next door was well looted. Glad I went home an hour early.

Well, I don't think anyone is supreme. Not a fan of disorder, though I get it. I'm not for total order either, way too authoritarian.

This is reminding me of something I read this morning... back when I can nab a quote.

I'm misremembering, by then my ex's parents had moved to a mobile home village in the near desert.
He was a dozen years younger than me and was busy as a kid playing baseball in the Watt's riots, which were in the same area as the start of the to-do re Reginald Denny and much more - Florence and Normandie. That is, the game was in Watts. He's anglo.

To clarify -
At Watt's riot time, I was busy at work at a west side university, while he was younger playing ball. At R. Denny time, we were married, lived in Venice, and I worked on South La Cienega.

During his teen years, their house was hit by house invasion, guys with shotguns. Everybody down on the floor. J's older brother saved the day by mentioning his piggy bank...
and then their mother made a run for it out the front door and one guy said "shoot the bitch". Who knows, when the next guy aimed he may have noticed that the mother was terribly crippled and lurching, waving her arms and yelling, and must have had a moment of compassion.

So...
I wasn't there in all of that, in fact I was the older woman the son shouldn't marry. But it is part of my background, perhaps on my shoulder.

Not much of that going on was simple, though the surface seems so.
