Plurality of Americans now sees Bush Presidency as failure

Quote:
The Pew Research Center is an independent American opinion research group that studies attitudes toward the press, politics and public policy issues. On Thursday, the Center published a comprehensive poll of Americans on their views of President Bush and his policies.

Quote:

President George W. Bush's poll numbers are going from bad to worse. His job approval rating has fallen to another new low, as has public satisfaction with national conditions, which now stands at just 29%. And for the first time since taking office in 2001, a plurality of Americans believe that George W. Bush will be viewed as an unsuccessful president.

Republicans are gonna take it on the chin in the mid-term elections, unless Bush manages to turn his numbers around.

Heard a poll on NPR yesterday, something like 48% want Democrats to control the legislature versus 26% who want Republicans.

Isn't his current approval rating with African-Americans a negative number?

I heard his approval rating is still very high with people who's knuckles drag on the ground when they walk.

Not so. The poll numbers demonstrate that, without question, you can fool some of the people all of the time -- it looks like in the range of 30-40% of the people, in fact. The surprising thing is that, among the people who now view Bush as a failure, are many who must have voted for him in 2004. Why are they disappointed? After all, Bush has done nothing since November 2004 that he didn't promise during the election campaign. The people who still support Bush may be delusional, but the people who voted for Bush and who now think he's doing a bad job are just plain idiots.

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson: "When will people learn: democracy doesn't work!"

Among African Americans his approval rating stands at 2%. Taking into account the margin of error of 5%, it is indeed possible the he is in the negative.

People often talk one way between elections, but vote the opposite way when the time comes. It will still be a hard fought election.
