word, dagmaraka.
as much fun as it is to point out dubya's..uhhh, idiosyncrasies, it's doing nothing now but keeping us amused.
the guy's trip is crumbling around him, not because a lot of us hollered "MORON!!!" for 5 years, but because he
is a moron and has managed to do nothing but continuously shoot himself in the ass to the point where anyone who's not wondering about him has something other than the welfare of our country on their mind.
as members of his opposition, we've won. as citizens of the united states, we have all lost.
so, what we should be doing now, is putting heads together to solidify the ideas and solutions that
we think should be put in place.
here's one;
1) - trim down all of those tax cuts. it's not doing what it was supposed to do. jobs are still going out of the country, prices are going up, and employees are being hustled out of their jobs, benies and pensions. and working harder and longer for the priviledge. sounds plain wrong to me.
the free ride is over. besides a $1.4 billion a week war in iraq, a smaller war in afghanistan, katrina and rita, our infrastructure is not what it should be. our health care program is not what it should be in one of the wealthiest countries. people are bitching about terrorists and illegal aliens, but go ballistic when there's talk of hiring more border guards. the military is giving out cash like crazy to induce people to stay, join and even for getting someone else to join. faith based initiatives ? what the hell ?? the churches take in cash hand over fist, and with zero taxation, and now we're supposed to kick in more?? how does that work ? and to top it off, the churches want to hire only people of their faith, using public money. and to get in the middle of politics. if that's going to be the case, the churches need to pay taxes. they can't have it both ways. what about homeland security ? the list of costs goes on.
the money to pay for it
has to come from somewhere.
i guess we could just print more money. it worked so well for the weimar republic.
from what we can pick up, it looks like the average american is the one doing the work, and paying for most of this stuff. meanwhile, corporate america and rich dudes are setting up a p.o. box company in the caymans to avoid paying taxes, though they are certainly beneficiaries of some of the best things america has to offer.
what was that bumper sticker back in the 70's ?... "cash, grass or ass.
nobody rides for free.".
more thoughts, folks ?
