Viruses don't prompt hives that I know of.

Ahhhhhh, the whole thing of recognition of self and non-self was a big question in immunology in my day. Huge huge subject.

When Mr. B got home last night he raised the roof with the insuance company. Without going into detail I'll just say that we did get a doctor on the phone. Hives indeed seem to be the concensus.

Mo's skin appears back to normal this morning and he reports no itching.

Thank you all so much.

Recognition of self and non-self, osso? Do you mean things within the body not recognizing that they are part of one organism? Interesting!

That's great that things are back to normal!

And good for Mr. B and his roof-raising.

Yes, boomer, the whole subject of antibody formation, and such things as histamine reactions is fascinating stuff. I can't expound on it myself.

Mr. B. sounds like a Knight in Shining Armor. Mo is a lucky little boy to have the two of you on his side.

The only time that I had hives was after I was bitten by a yellow jacket, but before my rampant antibodies had caused my throat to swell alarmingly. I was rushed to the hospital and shot full of adrenalin. This happened in July when all the new interns arrived and a parade of fledgling medicos marched through my room on a scavanger hunt to locate the bite.

All were amazed to find that inspite of my swollen face and throat that the bite was on my ankle.

I'm glad that Mo is feeling better--I presume trick and treat will go on as scheduled?

Mr. B is one of those supremely laid back guys, the kind you really don't want to make mad. He is very slow to anger but he will kick ass when someone crosses him. Or more likely me or Mo.

Halloween will be the shindig we planned on. Kindervader is really excited:

Ummm.... that didn't sound right at all.

He will not kick Mo or my ass. He will kick the ass of anyone who crosses me or Mo.
