Does anyone watch that religious crap on Sunday mornings?

Edgar,

Even if that is true, Christians would have no right to scorn you for what you do or do not believe.

Anybody remember the Reverend Ike? I used to love him, and watched him regularly, some decades ago. He had such a positive attitude towards how the poor could raise themselves up by the bootstraps, that I found totally refreshing.

He was open and honest about how his ministry was making him a lot of money, but encouraged peolpe to do their best to make the most out of their lives.

He was also a very funny man!

Sounds familiar, did he use to perform with Tina Turner?

Hi Phoenix!

How are you? Hope you are well!

Have you ever heard Jessie Duplantis? If you like ministers with humor, he's one of the funniest.

Good to see you!

How are you doing today?

I would also like to add that I don't watch them on Sunday mornings as I too am in Church!

I watch Jessie Duplantis on Wednesday night!

Hi Momma,

Actually, I am in Church on Wednesday night as well as Sunday

Indirectly they all do (ask for money)!

Sorry, Calamity..... That is not true.

For being a heathen, who does not tithe or bear any respect for those folks.

Whether you tithe is entirely your business and nobody else's. Don't make the assumption that all Christians have respect for those folks either. Unfortunately, there are insincere and corrupt folks in all areas of life. Those that use religion for monetary gain are using religion for their own purpose, not God's.

We used occasionally to watch who the hell ever it was who did the Hour of Power and laugh hysterically.

(These horrid things also infest some Oz TV on Sunday, or did.)

When I was a very wee (and religious) lowan indeed, (as a little kid), they used to scare the heck out of me.

I always assumed I wasn't saved, or whatever they were peddling, and that I was irrevocably bad.

When I'm awake WAY too early on Sunday mornings I'll sometimes watch some of these shows. Embarrassed
It can be entertaining; and some of them are genuinely interesting to listen to. It's better than infomercials (sometimes).

But hey; I also sometimes watch little kids cartoons like Arthur and Hamtaro.

There is only one thing to do if the holy rollers infest the east. Too much junk on TV already.

We had the same thing in the early 60's. Oral RobertsÂ…he was supposed to be a healer. He would grab people by the head and aggressively squeeze it yelling the words "heal, Heal, heal."

He was scary, but at the same time, us kids we would mimic him then roll on the floor in fits of laughter.

My recently deceased uncle told us that his brother in law was approached by Oral Roberts' scouts to be healed, even though he was not sick, for money. Not sure which decade it was. I haven't thought about it in years. When asked how Roberts could do such a thing, they assured him they were doing it all without his knowledge. I'm only repeating - wasn't there to witness any of it.
