Dan, wish there were words describing how i feel when viewing the sierra's foilage, pine trees, acres and acres of canyon where the coyotes, bear, and puma live - just a wonderful place. There are three distinctive aromas that are my favorites on the entire planet. Pine forests, fields of alfalfa hay, and the Ocean.
I've a few pinecones collected since i moved here but mostly i pick up a few dozen each season, spray the tips with gold leaf paints, then rescatter. Color looks awsome during winter moonlit evenings.
Dan, you and Pattie are welcome to stop by during the next drive along the Corridor and pick up as many pine cones as you'd like...
and eBeth, after last summer with temps at three digits for over a month, the coolness of winter welcomed. Will be interesting seeing how temps differ from last winter though.
Me and vicaden going nynite now <dental work, yuk> so ya all have a good evening and happy tomorrow.
Take care of yourself, Stradee.

danon - get ready to start your designated clicking. My bags are packed - and I'll be on my way after work tomorrow.
Cya all soon!
Ha Ha - ehBeth,
You never heard me complaining about Winter. I love that time of year too.
In fact, my very first Winter in Alaska was a record breaker - minus 72 degrees F - for over two weeks solid. Being the first Winter there, I thought it was normal. So, the next two Winters were a piece of cake...............
No one around here in Texas believes my stories............
You have fun and be safe on your trip.
See ya later.
So Danon is the man of all seasons.
Right you are- all seasons do have their own special highlights.
Stradee- the fall colors are truely beautiful.
What I miss during late fall and winter is the intensity of light.
ul,
The light in our home comes differently in Winter. We have a nice fireplace that gives us a 'feeling' of warmth (along with the central heating of course) and with the lights low, a nice comfy glow.
ehBeth,
All clicked and ready. Have a great visit.

Danon- cozy fireplace, roasted chestnuts, temps below freezing, clear sky, skating, all very nice.
On the downside;
I leave my house when it is still dark and come home when it is dark again.
Wilma- the next hurricane is coming. They say it is a major one.
Let's see if I can do this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope. I'll try again
o.k. guys. How do I get my digital photos onto this page? I just don't know what to do.
danon5 wrote:That sounds great to me, dev...... But, I really love ul's idea re palmtrees and beach....... Mmmmm, I feel it now.
Definitely, danon! Anyone headed to warmer weather mind if I hitch a ride in their luggage?! Don't get me wrong. I like watching the seasons, it's just that I hate the cold and I tend toward 'SAD' - not too fun, but I'm clicked and it's a beautiful sunny fall day here.
wayfarer,
you have to have your pictures hosted on a website. Try
www.imageshack- they host for free.
They give you an url which you post here.
Post replay- click on the icon for image- a small window will appear, paste the url in- that should work.
Just very selfish here- want to see your pictures.
Yes, we all want to see your pix!!
ul, I know what you mean about the light - while in Alaska during the Winter there was only a faint glow in the South at noon. The sun never appeared.
But, during the Summer, the sun NEVER SET!!! It was daylight with sunshine 24/7.............grin
Nordic summers- they are great. Never been to Alaska, but to Lappland.
I shouldn't grumble over winter. at least we don't have hurricanes.
Wayfarer- Wilma is coming your way?
... Also, there is the possibility of a threat to New England--the latest GFDL model run has Wilma hitting the Cape Cod area as a Category 2 hurricane on Monday night. I'll wait for the 00Z (8pm EDT) runs of the models that will be available in the morning before commenting more. The degree of uncertainty in both the track and intensity forecast of Wilma remains very high. The remainder of my blog from 5pm is below, unchanged.

ul, Thanks for the link..... That is very informative. Hopefully it will miss wayfarer.. Fingers and toes crossed.
aktbird57 and ehBeth are clicked............
Me too clicked.
Thanks for the good thoughts - I didn't realize Wilma was headed this way. We havebeen having really strong winds for the past week - no kayaking for me. Five foot high waves on the bay.
Ul- that URL didn't work. Does it need a .com?
wayfarer, the URL worked fine for me. Try this copy of the URL
http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/show.html
Very informative web site! Hope all are well & mostly unaffected by Wilma. I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers.
Clicking.
Ul- the weather URL is fine - I got it with no problem and it is fascinating and informative. It is the
www.omageshack which I can't get. It keeps giving me a no can do message.
sorry, that is "Imageshack". With
www.imageshack I keep getting "the page cannot be displayed".
Try this one:
http://www.imageshack.us/
Sorry, I think I said .com, should be .us
That's a very good site. Also, a good thing to do is create a special folder in your Documents folder labeled something like "My imageshack stuff" and copy each URL you create there along with a short description of the picture. That will help you in the future to reuse the URL's. Of course if you wanted to you could register with the imageshack site and they save all your old URL's. I find saving it on my computer is faster to find and use. But, whatever ticks your clock. grin
