Hello,
I live in Los Angeles and how much salary is needed for a standard living cost.
I recently learned low-polygon 3d modeling. I've never had a steady job. I have a Bachelors Degree in Illustration. So far I've been offered 40K for a job in LA. It is quite lower than what I've thought.
Could anyone who knows a bit about game companies tell me how much would be a good salary to ask for?
EDIT: MODERATOR: LINK REMOVED My website is here. Please take a look and tell me what would be a good offer for me to suggest. Thanks.
bubble, LA's cost of living is very high. Just living in Maryland, being the 3 highest cost of living place to live in the US. I would not be able to afford housing even in the farflung suburbs on 40K. I'll give this some thought, but I suggest you check the newspaper real estate sections of LA papers to get an idea if you can afford to live by yourself or will need 20 room mates. Maybe someone on this forum will remember where you can check average incomes in various states.
I think monster.com has a link that shows relative pay scales... not sure tho.
please excuse my ignorance, but what does someone with a bachelor's degree in Illustration do?
