Looking for some advice on career from another Marine. Sorry I wasn't clear.

What sorta advice ya lookin' for? I've been there-done that, though a good while back, and my son is a Career Officer coming up on 16 in.

Promotion
If you are not in the zone for promotion, do you still take the required courses in order to be promoted for the time period...or do you wait? Like the warfare course from Capt. to Major. If you are not in the zone, shouldn't you wait until you are in the zone, or is this common practice????

My advice would be to grab any courses pertinent to your chosen career path as and when available. And then some. The Corps is pretty big on initiative.
