Peter Arnett was fired and made headlines for offering his opnion (albeit odd circumstances) whereas Rivera actually endangered coaliton troops. Where is the uproar over Rivera?Pentagon wants Fox News to remove Rivera
NEW YORK (AP) ?- The Pentagon said today it is asking Fox News Channel to remove Geraldo Rivera from a posting with U.S. troops in Iraq where he was accused of disclosing unauthorized information.
"We have asked that he be removed and we are working with them to make that happen," Lt.-Col. Dave Lapan said. He said the network had agreed.
Earlier, Rivera had dismissed reports that he had been ejected from Iraq for revealing tactical information about the 101st Airborne Division.
Also today, a British tabloid said it has hired Peter Arnett, who was dismissed by NBC on Monday for giving an unauthorized interview to Iraqi state television in which he said the American-led war effort initially failed because of Iraq's resistance.

Things are just getting curiouser and curiouser.
According to the paper today, Rivera knelt on the sand and diagrammed where various troops were stationed. Maybe, maybe not. I have mixed opinions about Arnett. At this point, I really don't see what was so terrible about what he did. He didn't give away secrets, he did an interview with today's enemy, but he most definitely did go outside party line.
Geraldo, on the other hand, gave Fox the thing they always want - exploitative sensationalism. We'll see what happens.
If Rivera did what they say he did, he should be kicked out, and possibly prosecuted. But the charges have to be proven, first.
The problem is that the media is too involved with the war. I think it is doing more harm than good. You don't know what to believe anymore about the media!
I think, in different ways, what both of them did was reprehensible!
