Well, My ex's nephew took over, since no one was doing anything and he put in the obit today.
He also arranged to have services tomorrow and is paying to have him burried.
I feel much better now :-D

Obituary notices
I suspect nobody paid for the notice. When my father died the newspaper sent a representative to ask if we wanted it put in the paper. They offered to post it for a fee, although the fee was less than for a business to run an ad we still had to agree to pay something. The fee was based on the length of the obituary.
You may find the information you want in public records at the county clerks office.
