Okay, <sip> it really started on Monday. I get informed that the boss and Mrs. Boss are going to be gone <yeah!> Thursday and Friday. The bad news is that payroll needs to be complete a day early. The bad news <slurp> is that that there are 5 new hires to process in. The bad news is that <'nuther sip> I don't get the time sheets (no, not time cards) till 10:00 on Monday. The really bad news is that there is a state DOL audit <grabs bottle> scheduled for today at 11:00. Guess who shows up half an hour early? Yup. Nice guy. He's not looking for blood. He is also a very rigourous auditor. So, payroll and payroll tax verifications till around 3:30, followed by a general ledger examination to see who might have received payments that just might, possibly have been considered to be taxable wages. If, and I say if there were such payments, they were not uncovered. Still, anything <sip> in the selected months had to be explained - in detail. So, okay, no discrepencies by the conclusion. Swell. Payroll needs to be presented tonight for tomorrows signature. Guess what <Swallow>? THUNDERSTORM! Gee, sez the boss, maybe we better shut down the computers. Cooperative little employee that I am, I agree - like, at this point, I could care less whether thing gets fried or what. Okay, 30 minutes after quitting time, it's okay to get back to work. An hour and a half after quiting time, it's alright to shut down and go home.
A bright spot in a cloudy day; I not only got compliments from the auditor, some were made in the presence of Mr. & Mrs. Boss
Hey!? Who drained that bottle while my back was turned?
Sorry. Like some days, some paragraphs seem to never end.
<offering the cooperative little employee a peanut>
You done good, Roger! Very, very good!
Awwwww - poor Ratty!!!
What a day.
Aw, thanks. Peanuts are better than a few crumbs of cheese any day.
And you'll never have to have that day again.
No, but there are so many other days coming up.
you were letting the auditor take a nip?
Today and tomorrow should be nice..
hey , what is VO? I never did see a bottle.
Days like that, panz, you want to see the bottle, you gotta be quick - very quick.
Down the road, underground, all days will be the same.
Start early if the prospect charms you.
Like riding a bicycle, right? If you end up at your starting point, then the terrain was perfectly flat - on average.
Roger--
Original starting point? You can't get there from here.
But I am here, Noddy. It's you that's somewhere else. Sometimes you go away, but I'm always here.
Aw, Roger, sounds like a rough week - means this one must be looking better!
Hey sweetie, you know where we keep the good stuff. Come down anytime and help yourself. Hope this week is much better!
It was a tough and tense one, lilk. At least the audit turned out well. Very well. Thanks.
Thanks, Diane. I was almost planning a trip, but hearingplanet's great discount was beaten up here by a straight up retailer. If the difference had been worth three trips, instead of less than one, your stash would have been well depleted before autumn.
You know Dys and I consider mi casa es su casa. The guest room is always ready.
