[Hence my allusions to "royalty" McT;
you did na answer me question.
QUOTE]

The question, where in NW England do they speak thus?
Answer, nowhere, for I am a Scot, and my speech patterns and my education, such as it is, come from there.
However the nearest city to here is Manchester.

Did I answer the right question?
A happy and peaceful Sunday to you all, which will be with us here in two hours and counting.

It's the London Marathon tomorrow, that's always good for a laugh. It is shown live on our TVs (yes, the Londoners and UK bods know that already, but the others don't) and it starts around 9 I think.

Goodnight, Bo, McTag, Boo, John.

For McTag: "Heather on the Hill"

Can't we two go walkin' together, out beyond the valley of trees?
Out where there's a hillside of heather, curtsyin' gently in the breeze.
That's what I'd like to do: see the heather--but with you.
The mist of May is in the gloamin', and all the clouds are holdin' still.
So take my hand and let's go roamin' through the heather on the hill.
The mornin' dew is blinkin' yonder. There's lazy music in the rill,
And all I want to do is wander through the heather on the hill.
There may be other days as rich and rare.
There may be other springs as full and fair.
But they won't be the same--they'll come and go,
For this I know:
That when the mist is in the gloamin', and all the clouds are holdin' still,
If you're not there I won't go roamin' through the heather on the hill,
The heather on the hill.

For John and Boo:"I Got my Eyes on You"

- John Lee Hooker -

Dimples

I love the way you walk
I love the way you walk
I'm crazy 'bout your walk
I love the way you walk
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

Well I see you every day
Well I see you every day
If you need to look
Well I see you every day
Well I see you every day
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

For Bo:Diana Krall "The Night We Called it a Day"
There was a moon out in space
But a cloud drifted over its face
You kissed me and went on your way
The night we called it a day
I heard the song of the spheres
Like a minor lament in my ears
I hadn't the heart left to pray
The night we called it a day
Soft through the dark
The hoot of an owl in the sky
Sad though his song
No bluer was he than I
The moon went down stars were gone
But the sun didn't rise with the dawn
There wasn't a thing left to say
The night we called it a day
There wasn't a thing left to say
The night we called it a day

and for all others who have posted here. Find your own songs. Laughing

Letty!

Thanks for your industry, and your artistry.

Was my song from "Brigadoon"? I have never heard it before.

Thank you! My very own song. I am touched.

McT

ps Even when you get out 'beyond the valley of the trees' and into the heather the midges will still find you. You want to know why Scotland is so empty, with all that grand sweeping scenery and not a human in sight? it's because of the midges.

"The black fly, the little black fly
I'll die with the black fly pickin' my bones
In North Ontario-i-o
In North Ontar-i-o"

And Ballahullish,Achnasheen and Auchterarder.

Hey, McTag. Yes, that song was from Brigadoon. I first heard it played by a very fine jazz saxophonist who played in the Oscar Peterson Trio.
Good grief, McTag, Midges? Shocked Guess every garden has some distractions. Smile

Anecdote:
When I was in school, I designed the scenery for our version of Brigadoon, and, inspite of the fact that the music held my head hostage for months during the time, I still have a very soft (soggy/quicksand) spot in my heart for Brigadoon.

And of course there's Dianna...........
thanks

Bo, Wow. Why am I not surprised that you designed the scenery. Smile

Yes, Diana has something for everyone. Just look in the Book of the Boo and you'll find the complete manuscript. Cool

Ode to My Avatar
by Piffka

My dear, my dear, you look so down,
All your colors, friend, quite brown.
Is there a reason to be a shy?
Raise your head, look at the sky!

My dear, my dear, still looking down?
On your face not quite a frown.
A miracle will surely be
If you look up and smile at me.

I think Mac Tag, being a good Scot, should have a Wild Haggis as his Avatar or a picture of that other canny Scot, Mel Braveheart.
I can say that coz I'm half Scots and a member of the MacSomething or Other Clan.

The Banks O'Doon by Robbie Burns

Ye banks and braes o' bonie Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu' o' care!
Thou'll break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro' the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o' departed joys,
Departed never to return.

Aft hae I rov'd by Bonie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine:
And ilka bird sang o' its Luve,
And fondly sae did I o' mine;
Wi' lightsome heart I pu'd a rose,
Fu' sweet upon its thorny tree!
And may fause Luver staw my rose,
But ah! he left the thorn wi' me.

You are in fine voice tonight Hydrama. I'm sure that RB would buy you a large bottle of Firewater and a wee haggis to soak it up.
You'd have to share it with McTag of course or he might snap your caber.

hiama, Captivating. I don't think Robert Burns ever wrote anything mundane or pedestrian.

Now Boo, You know I don't mess around when it comes to music. Evil or Very Mad

Oh, My Gawd, John. There's that haggis again. You tryin' to create another monster? Incidentally, if you're as dour as the stereotypical Scot, where be your kilt and bagpipes? Amazing--there but for grace go I. Laughing

Letty my dear, I have only ever spent 5 days north of Hadrian's Wall in my entire life. I wouldn't know a kilt from a karpet or a set of bagpipes from a bee hive. There I've confessed, my penance shall be 3 hail Marys and a rosary.
